Genshin Impact Leaks: Will Scaramouche/Wanderer be a melee or ranged catalyst user?

Genshin Impact - Wanderer - Scaramouche

While Scaramouche/Wanderer was long speculated to become the first-ever male catalyst user in Genshin Impact, the title went to Shikanoin Heizou when he was released in the game’s Version 2.8.

However, Shikanoin Heizou didn’t turn out to be a conventional catalyst user in terms of gameplay. Instead of using auto-aimed ranged projectiles with his Normal Attacks like other catalyst users do, the Inazuman detective uses the catalyst in close combat and thus infuses Anemo, his Vision, in his every punch and kick.

Since Shikanoin Heizou is still the only male catalyst user in the game as of writing, there is a not-so-welcome possibility that this melee mechanic will remain true to future male characters with the same weapon type. This raised the question whether Scaramouche/Wanderer will be a melee or ranged catalyst user.

Will Scaramouche/Wanderer be a melee or ranged catalyst user?

For those who are not a fan of the melee catalyst mechanic, it would be good to hear that the Wanderer, the playable version of the Sixth Fatui Harbinger Scaramouche, will “most likely” be a ranged catalyst user. This was stated by leaker SusAmongusLeaks as a response to a tweet.

Prior to this, the leaker mentioned that the Wanderer’s “third normal attack fires two projectiles instead of one.” It can also be recalled that a previous leak says that the upcoming character’s Normal Attacks allow him to” perform up to three attacks using wind blades.” You can check out the Wanderer’s leaked full kit here.

With these two statements, it can be presumed that the Wanderer will be a ranged catalyst user. However, again, this is purely speculative and should be taken with a grain of salt.

The Wanderer was officially revealed together with Faruzan on Monday, October 31, 2022. It is noticeable that his pose in the official art is very similar to Shikanoin Heizou’s. Since both characters have the Anemo Vision, it is only natural for fans to compare them.
