Genshin Impact has won the Players’ Voice category at the 2022 Game Awards. This is after a heated social media war between fans of the award’s nominees, specifically Genshin Impact and Sonic Frontiers.

As the official website of the award-giving body states, most awards at The Game Awards are primarily determined by a voting jury consisting of “over 100 leading media and influencer outlets across the globe.” However, the Players’ Voice category is different, as it is based entirely on fan votes.

All the nominees for the award were Genshin Impact, Sonic Frontiers, Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarok, and Stray, with Genshin Impact and Sonic Frontiers leading the polls earlier this week. But in the end, it was the “voice” of Genshin Impact fans that prevailed, a feat considering that it’s up against big releases like Elden Ring and God of War: Ragnarok.

The HoYoverse action role-playing game was also nominated for two other awards during the ceremony, including Best Ongoing Game and Best Mobile Game, which were ultimately won by Final Fantasy XIV and Marvel Snap, respectively.

Like most freebies, these Primogems will be sent to players via the in-game mail.

Since its release in 2020, Genshin Impact has been consistently recognized at The Game Awards. It can be recalled that the action role-playing game was nominated for Best RPG and Best Mobile Game in 2020. It was also nominated for Best Ongoing Game and won Best Mobile Game the following year.
