Genshin Impact: Film Notes Quest guide and answers

Introduced in the 2.8 update Summer Fantasia, the Film Notes quest line is a new World Quest series that follows “The Seventh Samurai” quest from the Tatara Tales series introduced back in the 2.0 version. Those quests involved the Traveler helping the Fontaine outlander Xavier to cleanse Tatarasuna and, in the end, creating his own film.

As such, the Film Notes quest line is only available after completing all the full Tatara Tales and “The Seventh Samurai” extra quest. After meeting those requirements, talk with Furuta in the Kamisato Estate to receive the “Outlander Brigade!” initial quest.

“Outlander Brigade!” guide

Go to the marked position and talk with Xavier. After receiving your script, select the correct answers to proceed. They are:

  • 1 – How did this happen?
  • 2 – But I won’t lose like this.
  • 3 – Don’t underestimate my resolve!

After the questions, Xavier will start filming the action scenes and ask you to be “flashy”. Why not make his wish come true? Using 5-star characters Bursts next to the signs will result in unique animations. Here’s how Yelan’s Burst will look like. A small but neat detail.

Next, go to the Uyuu Restaurant in Inazuma City to meet a slightly drunk Xavier and complete the first quest. On to the next one!

Mushounin guide

Your first objective is to talk with both actors from Xavier’s film. Koharu’s in the Kamisato Estate next to where you first started the quest, and you can find Sasano in Ritou. Small talk is all that it takes for them to agree on filming once more.

Afterwards, advance the in-game time to 18:00 and go to the Komore Teahouse. Once again, you have the pick the correct answers from the script. They are:

  • 1 – Can the dust settle before vengeance is had?
  • 2 – Whoever’s eavesdropping outside, come on in.
  • 3 – It wasn’t your adoptive parents who died.
  • 4 – (Point to the left)

The shooting is done, and you must wait until evening once more. Change the clock for 18:00 and go to Nazuchi Beach. Defeat the attacking Kairagi to convince them to participate in the movie, and talk again with Xavier to begin the actual filming. Same thing as before, just go to the positions and defeat your opponents.

One more shooting and we’re done! Advance the clock for 18:00 once again and go to the marked position. Read the script and prepare for the last questions:

  • 1 – So he’s gone.
  • 2 – I’m sorry, I…

And after a quick fight with Sasano:

  • 1 – I said the same thing once before.
  • 2 – I really like you, Machiko.

Climb back to the top of the cliff to talk once more with Xavier and you’re done! The Film Notes quest line is finally complete and you get some easy gems out of it.
