Not long after the popular release of Season 8, Apex Legends is celebrating it’s two year birthday and to celebrate its anniversary, Respawn released a new skin collection and a new takeover event.

Starting on the 9th of February, there is now the Anniversary Skins collection event with many popular skins now recoloured in regal red and gold along with other party skins.

For those who don’t want to spend money on skins, no worries Respawn has you covered. You can earn points in game towards a prize tracker just by playing the game. Just by the liberal application of gun to opponents you can earn some of the cosmetics that you would normally have to pay for.

There are ten free apex packs and two Anniversary packs, so you can deck yourself out in red and gold for free. Alongside that there is the ‘Second to None’ Epic R-99 skin, which is one the cutest guns skins, and then the legendary Demon Claw M600 Spitfire skin which is a recolour of the Bonesaw event skin from Season One’s ‘Legendary Hunt’ event.

Considering you can get 1000 points a day if you really grind for it only takes 5 days to complete. You get 200 points just by playing a singular game and then can earn more points by doing damage and getting top ten finishes.

When you drop into the game you will notice a few differences from the takeover event. Firstly as you drop you will realise that everyone lands equipped with a Mozambique, white Evo shields, a stack of shotgun ammo, two syringes and two shield cells. So everyone is armed on landing which makes first engagements quite interesting.

Also whilst dropping in and you fancy a challenge you can drop your Mozambique and ammo whilst flying, like some sort of shotgun Santa Clause. This simultaneously puts you at the disadvantage of not being armed when landing and confusing some poor player later when they find a lone Mozambique in the middle of an open track of land, like a relic from a shotgun wielding empire.

And a boon for all Loba mains, all the loot on the ground is rare or higher. For a two week period there is not only rare, epic or legendary loot, meaning it’s a lot easier to make your favourite loadout. This event also comes with a series of events. Dealing 3333 damage with the Mozambique gets you a ‘Mozambique Here!’ weapon charm. Along with the ‘Respect your Elders’ achievement where you have to deal 102,816 damage during the event, a reference to the original release date of Titanfall Two, the event challenges are flavourful and something to really work towards.
