Last Updated on: 2nd February 2021, 10:18 pm

When Apex Legends was released on Steam last year, a Nintendo Switch version was supposed to release alongside it. The Switch port ended up being delayed indefinitely, leaving many players unsure as to whether they would ever be able to play Respawn Entertainment’s smash-hit Battle Royale.

Now we know exactly when we will be able to jump into King’s Canyon because a release date has finally been announced.

Nintendo Switch Release Date

It has been confirmed that the Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends will be releasing on March 9th 2021.

Apex Legends Season 8 started today, so Switch owners will miss out on the first month or so of Season 8. But don’t worry, Switch players will receive 30 free levels on the Season 8 Battle Pass to kickstart their playing experience and help them catch up with other players.

It has also been revealed that cross-platform will be enabled from launch, meaning Switch owners can immediately jump in with their friends, regardless of platform.

While this is great news, the game will likely run at just 30fps, much like other shooters such as Fortnite and Warface, putting Switch players at a huge disadvantage when facing players on other platforms, such as PC which is capable of 240, or even 360 frames per second.

The Switch version of Apex Legends is being developed by Panic Button, the same developers responsible for porting Rocket League to the system.
