The Fortnite Gilded Dragoon Shotgun is a new Treasure Hunters weapon built around one powerful blast. Epic describes it as a single-fire shotgun that trades magazine capacity for high damage, so it’s not designed to behave like a fast-firing automatic shotgun.
You can encounter it in Battle Royale, Reload and Blitz Royale. Epic hasn’t published a guaranteed Battle Royale spawn or exact damage figures, but it has identified a specific Blitz loot source. Here’s where to look for the Fortnite Gilded Dragoon Shotgun and what to expect when you pick it up.
Where to find the Fortnite Gilded Dragoon Shotgun
The gun appears in the Battle Royale v43.00 Treasure Hunters weapon lineup. Epic’s notes don’t assign it to one boss, chest or location on Crossbones Isle. There’s no reason to chase a supposed guaranteed chest location without current gameplay to back it up.
Reload also includes the Fortnite Gilded Dragoon Shotgun among its new items. That mode has a separate map rotation and loot pool from Battle Royale, so a drop location from one cannot safely be applied to the other.

How to get the Gilded Dragoon in Blitz Royale
Epic’s Blitz v43.00 notes explicitly list the Gilded Dragoon Shotgun at Legendary rarity in Gold Supply Drops. The same source contains other weapons, so a Gold Supply Drop is a possible source, not a guaranteed Gilded Dragoon every time.
Blitz also offers new Epic-rarity weapons through Gold Chests, but the official summary does not provide a precise Gilded Dragoon drop chance for individual chests. If you’re looking for the Fortnite Gilded Dragoon Shotgun in Blitz, use the confirmed item-source list instead of an invented percentage.
How does the Fortnite Gilded Dragoon Shotgun work?
The Gilded Dragoon is described as a single-fire shotgun with a heavy blast. Aim for a clean hit, then be ready to move. This isn’t an automatic shotgun you can hold down to keep firing.
Single-fire doesn’t mean a guaranteed one-shot elimination, and it doesn’t confirm an exact magazine size. Epic has not published exact shell capacity, damage, pellet spread, reload time or headshot values in the public season notes. Those need checking against the current in-game weapon.
How to use the Fortnite Gilded Dragoon Shotgun in fights
Take fights at the distance shotguns are meant for. Wait until you can line up a good close-range shot, fire, then reposition or switch weapons if the opponent is still standing. You don’t want to be caught exposed while preparing the next attack.
On Crossbones Isle, buildings, streets and cover give you places to set up a close-range encounter. The Fortnite Gilded Dragoon Shotgun rewards careful timing, but a high-damage description doesn’t make an off-target shot effective. Think about where you can move after firing, not just where the opponent is now.

What pairs well with the Gilded Dragoon?
The Bundlebuss Repeater Rifle is a useful companion because Epic describes it as a fully automatic medium-range weapon. Use the rifle to apply pressure at distance and the shotgun when the fight becomes much closer.
A movement option also helps when the opponent controls the engagement distance. It also gives you a way to change your position instead of chasing someone with a shotgun that’s better suited to close fights.
Gilded Dragoon versus the Auto Shotgun
The Auto Shotgun and Sentinel Pump Shotgun are among the weapons unvaulted for Treasure Hunters. The Fortnite Gilded Dragoon Shotgun offers a different style of close-range fight, although Epic hasn’t published the full stats needed to rank every shotgun by damage.
Which one you carry depends on how well you can land a clean first shot, how quickly you need a follow-up and what rarity each weapon has. If you’re regularly missing that first heavy blast, a different shotgun might suit you better.
Can you use the Gilded Dragoon in Ranked?
Unlike the Explosive Cannon Ball and A$AP Rocky’s Shock Rocket, the Fortnite Gilded Dragoon Shotgun is not specifically labelled non-Competitive-only in the main v43.00 announcement. That does not establish the item rules for every tournament or limited-time playlist. Check your current mode before assuming an item is enabled.
The Gilded Dragoon is a confirmed November launch weapon in Battle Royale, Reload and Blitz. It’s part of the launch lineup, not one of the weapons scheduled to return later. For the rest of the new equipment, see our Treasure Hunters weapons guide.
