Fortnite Crew returning subscriber tier rules allow some former members to keep a higher monthly V-Bucks reward when they rejoin in December 2026. Epic Games says players who resubscribe between 6 and 31 December can have their most recent uninterrupted subscription period from the past 12 months recognised.
If you want the higher starting payout, watch the deadline closely. Epic’s window ends at 11:59 PM Eastern Time on 31 December. After that, returning members start again at Core with 1,000 V-Bucks a month.
How the Fortnite Crew returning subscriber tier works
Epic uses your most recent consecutive period of Crew membership from the previous twelve months. Someone who stayed subscribed for three months and then cancelled can start on Bronze if they return during the special window. Bronze pays 1,200 V-Bucks per month, rather than Core’s 1,000.
The Fortnite Crew returning subscriber tier doesn’t work by adding up scattered memberships across the year. If you subscribed for two months, cancelled and came back for another month, that isn’t an uninterrupted three-month subscription. Use the most recent continuous run, not a lifetime total.
What are the Core, Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers?
Core covers one or two consecutive months and gives 1,000 V-Bucks a month. Bronze runs from three to five months and gives 1,200. Silver covers six to eleven months and gives 1,400. Gold begins at twelve months and gives 1,600. These are reward tiers within one subscription, not different prices to purchase.
Epic says the announced US Crew price stays at $11.99 monthly. The Fortnite Crew returning subscriber tier is determined by eligible membership history. You cannot simply select Gold at checkout and receive 1,600 V-Bucks after a single month.
Fortnite Crew returning subscriber tier deadline in the UK and US
The return window begins on Sunday, 6 December 2026. It ends on Thursday, 31 December at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. In December, Eastern Standard Time is five hours behind GMT, meaning the UK deadline falls at 4:59 AM GMT on Friday, 1 January 2027.
For UK players, this is worth checking twice: the deadline is 4:59 AM GMT on 1 January 2027. The date changes because Epic’s deadline is set in US Eastern Time, five hours behind Britain in December.
What if you miss the deadline?

The Fortnite Crew returning subscriber tier exception stops applying after the published deadline. Previously completed subscription periods no longer determine your starting level. You begin at Core with 1,000 V-Bucks and build new consecutive months to unlock Bronze, Silver and Gold again.
Missing the return window does not itself delete any Crew cosmetics you already own. Epic separately says owners of previous Crew Pack Outfits, Pickaxes and Back Blings will receive remaining Legacy Styles in December even if they don’t have an active Crew membership.
Do existing subscribers need to cancel and rejoin?
No. The Fortnite Crew returning subscriber tier rule is for former members. Epic says current active subscribers keep the qualifying consecutive time from the previous year, and their tier will appear in a new Crew tab from 5 December. Cancelling to force an update is unnecessary.
Epic’s example involves someone who subscribed on 15 June and stayed active. On their 15 December billing date they reach seven months, which qualifies for Silver and 1,400 V-Bucks. That isn’t an extra grant paid to every subscriber on the fifth.
Can you get Gold back if you had a long membership?
Gold requires at least twelve consecutive subscribed months under the new system. The Fortnite Crew returning subscriber tier can reflect a qualifying previous uninterrupted period during the return window, but Epic’s announcement doesn’t explain every unusual billing or failed-payment case. Don’t treat scattered months or an expired membership from years ago as automatic Gold eligibility.
The Crew tab will show the tier Epic assigns when the new system arrives. Check your actual billing history rather than trying to calculate a disputed interruption or failed-payment case from an online example.
When should you resubscribe?
Epic’s published special treatment applies to returning players who subscribe from 6 December through the end of 31 December Eastern Time. It doesn’t specify how every cancelled account rejoining earlier is handled. The safest reading of the Fortnite Crew returning subscriber tier rule is to follow the exact announced window rather than guessing an earlier start.
If you are already active, stay subscribed if you want to maintain your qualifying run. If you cancelled, work out your last uninterrupted membership period and use the December return window before it closes.
