Fortnite Chapter 6 map evolution began with Oninoshima’s mountain shrines and busy port towns, but it didn’t stay a peaceful-looking island for long. Crime City replaced familiar ground, Star Wars briefly took over, superhero headquarters arrived, and the final full season sent players into an insect-infested war zone. All of that happened during 2025, on the same broad island.
The five maps below show the opening version of each main season and the Galactic Battle mini-season that came between Lawless and Super. Open the boxes to see the original map pictures, then compare what was there before and after the update. This is the historical Chapter 6 island, not a modern Fortnite OG remake.
Fortnite Chapter 6 map evolution: Every original map in order
There are four numbered Chapter 6 seasons, plus the separate Galactic Battle mini-season. That extra stop is easy to miss when looking back at old maps, but it belongs in the story. The update numbers make the order much clearer.
Season 1: Hunters (v33.00)

The original Oninoshima map. Fortnite’s Japanese-inspired island opened with landmarks including Seaport City, Nightshift Forest, Warrior’s Watch and Shogun’s Solitude. Shrines, forests and mountains gave the chapter a very different rhythm from Chapter 5’s railway and Mediterranean-style towns.
The v33.00 image is a snapshot of the island at its debut. Later demon-related events and map updates happened on the same land.
Season 2: Lawless (v34.00)

A crime spree changes the towns. Crime City and Outlaw Oasis arrived as the season leaned into heists, vaults and a criminal underworld. The cityscape, colour and new high-traffic locations made familiar journeys feel different, even for players who had already learned the island in Hunters.
Compare Crime City with the earlier map rather than assuming it was one of Chapter 6’s original POIs.
Mini-season: Galactic Battle (v35.00)

Star Wars takes over the island. The short Star Wars season launched in May 2025 and added the First Order Base and Outpost Enclave among its destinations. With the Death Star looming overhead and Star Wars equipment throughout the map, the island briefly became the stage for Galactic Battle.
Galactic Battle came between Lawless and Super. It was a mini-season, not the numbered Chapter 6 Season 3.
Season 3: Super (v36.00)

A new home for superheroes. Supernova Academy and Utopia City arrived on June 7, 2025. Supernova Academy served as a training campus and Tech Lab hub, while Utopia City added a modern urban centre. Mask Maker Daigo’s plan gave those locations an ongoing role in the season’s story.
The map pictured here is Super’s launch version, after the Galactic Battle mini-season. It is not a Star Wars map.
Season 4: Shock ‘N Awesome (v37.00)

The bug invasion. The Hive, O.X.R. HQ and Ranger’s Ruin reshaped the island in August 2025. Nests, egg sacs and anti-bug military facilities brought a stark change from the clean campus buildings of Super. The Hive was dangerous, while O.X.R. HQ offered a base for the island’s defenders.
The v37.00 picture shows the season at launch. Later Fortnitemares changes should be compared separately.
The Simpsons Springfield (2025): A special mini-season
After Chapter 6 Season 4, the November 2025 Simpsons mini-season introduced Springfield on a separate cartoon-themed island. This is the v38.00 launch map, not another stage of Oninoshima’s numbered seasons. It leads into the Chapter 7 island.

How the Chapter 6 island changed from Hunters to Shock ‘N Awesome
What makes Chapter 6 interesting is how differently the same geography was used. Hunters had wooded paths, temples and Japanese-style architecture. Then Lawless turned selected areas into heist locations and built Crime City into a destination of its own. If you only remember Chapter 6 for one of those seasons, the earlier map can look like a different place.
Galactic Battle was the most unusual interruption. Epic launched the Star Wars event on 2 May 2025, adding bases and a looming Death Star. Because it sat between two numbered seasons, it is easy to overlook when listing Fortnite Chapter 6 map evolution. Leaving it out would skip a substantial set of landmarks.
Super followed on 7 June 2025. The arrival of Supernova Academy and Utopia City changed the island’s character again, with clean futuristic buildings and a story centred on Mask Maker Daigo. The bug outbreak in August then brought an almost opposite atmosphere: The Hive was full of hostile insects, while O.X.R. HQ and Ranger’s Ruin told the story of people trying to fight back.
Fortnite Chapter 6 map evolution also includes the short Star Wars takeover. Its place between Lawless and Super is important when comparing patch versions.
Was Galactic Battle Chapter 6 Season 3?
No. Galactic Battle was a short Star Wars mini-season in May 2025. The numbered Chapter 6 Season 3 was Super, which began in June with Supernova Academy and Utopia City. Season 4 was Shock ‘N Awesome. Getting that numbering right matters when matching archived map pictures to Fortnite’s own patch notes and when players search for the original Super map.
In this Fortnite Chapter 6 map evolution gallery, Galactic Battle gets its own dropdown because it really did have its own map changes. It simply isn’t labelled as regular Season 3.
Fortnite Chapter 6 map evolution: The biggest island changes
For sheer change of atmosphere, the stretch from Super to Shock ‘N Awesome is hard to beat. The tidy grounds of Supernova Academy belonged to a superhero story, while The Hive and Ranger’s Ruin were built around a spreading infestation. Galactic Battle is also worth opening, especially if you missed its short run: the First Order Base and Outpost Enclave were additions tied to a specific event rather than a full numbered season.
The season-opening snapshots can’t tell the entire story of Fortnite Chapter 6 map evolution. Some named locations and environmental details changed after launch, so compare the patch numbers before treating two images as different seasons.
From here you can continue through Chapter 7’s map gallery or return to the all-chapters Fortnite map hub.

Fortnite Chapter 6 map evolution: Special-season map comparisons
Fortnite Chapter 6 map evolution also needs to account for the special island that followed. The Simpsons mini-season took place after Shock ‘N Awesome and before Pacific Break, making Springfield a separate stop in the 2025 island chronology.
Springfield maps compared: v38.00 to v38.11
Springfield’s launch map and the two later updates are shown separately. Open each version to see how the Simpsons mini-season island developed during November 2025. This was a distinct island between Chapter 6 and Chapter 7, rather than another numbered season on Oninoshima.
