Fortnite advanced controller options can seem to vanish when you switch game modes. Epic’s own support advice is to set your current game mode to Battle Royale before opening the controller settings. The extra sensitivity options may not appear when you’re looking at a different experience in the launcher.
If you’re trying to find Aim Assist Strength, Linear or Exponential response, or more detailed look and ADS settings, don’t reset all your bindings immediately. Check the selected Fortnite mode and the Advanced Options toggle first, then work through device-specific checks.
Make Fortnite advanced controller options appear
From the lobby choose Battle Royale as the current mode. Open the profile menu, Settings and Controller Options. Under Sensitivity, look for Use Advanced Options and turn it On. Apply the change and return to the page to find the detailed controls. Epic specifically recommends switching to Battle Royale if the Advanced Options toggle itself is missing; that check is quicker than reinstalling.
Why the setting moves between experiences
Fortnite includes Battle Royale, LEGO experiences, Festival and creator-made islands. Their available control settings aren’t always identical. Opening Fortnite advanced controller options while a different mode is selected can leave you looking at the wrong set of controls. Try selecting Battle Royale, changing the options, then returning to your usual mode to see which values are shared.

Fortnite advanced controller options: how to find aim assist once Advanced Options is on
Epic’s support instructions put Aim Assist Strength under Controller Options > Sensitivity once Use Advanced Options is enabled. Set the amount you’re comfortable with; a full 100% is a common starting point. Note that active gyro aiming disables aim assist altogether. If you can’t feel assistance, check Touch and Motion before deciding the Advanced Options toggle has failed.
Linear, Exponential and look speed controls
Advanced options expose finer look and aiming-response controls on supported platforms. Linear and Exponential change how stick movement maps to camera response, so test one curve at a time rather than replacing every sensitivity at once. Your deadzone controls are a separate issue: a controller that drifts when untouched may require deadzone tuning even when Fortnite advanced controller options are visible.
Fortnite advanced controller options: what if the toggle still doesn’t show?
Make sure the game is fully updated and you’re in Battle Royale rather than a Creative experience. Then close and reopen Fortnite, check whether the controller is recognised, and inspect the options again. Different consoles, mobile devices and input methods may not offer precisely the same settings. Avoid using outdated screenshots that show menu tabs in older positions.

Don’t reset a working controller layout unnecessarily
Before changing your values, take a screenshot or note down your current look speed, ADS speed, multipliers and deadzones. If you later decide a setting feels worse, you can restore what you had. Fortnite advanced controller options are for fine-tuning, not a single button that makes aim automatically stronger. Test movement with the same weapon and location when comparing values.
Controller recognised but no actions respond
On PC Epic suggests checking Mouse and Keyboard settings for Ignore Controller Input and setting that option to Off. Test the controller in another application and check its USB connection or Bluetooth pairing. A device that Fortnite doesn’t recognise is a different problem from the Advanced Options menu missing, so fix the input detection before tuning sensitivity.
