Fallout 76 Pint-Sized Phantom Map is the clue item used during The Slasher’s Secrets to the Grave quest, sending you towards disturbed graves in Appalachia. Bethesda’s October 20 update also changes how these maps work: you can no longer repeatedly use a grave-digging map while it’s stored in your stash.
You obtain and follow the map through the Secrets to the Grave investigation, rather than expecting every grave to appear permanently on your world map. If an older method suggested keeping the map in your stash and repeatedly using it for rewards, that no longer works as of patch 1.7.27.11.

October 20 patch: Phantom Map stash exploit fixed
Bethesda fixed a bug that allowed players to repeatedly use a grave-digging map while it remained in their stash. That wasn’t the intended method of progressing Secrets to the Grave. You’ll need to use a valid map through the normal quest activity and follow the clue to the indicated disturbed grave.
The patch note doesn’t say you can use one map forever, nor does it introduce guaranteed map-drop odds. If your map can’t be used again after a successful dig, that may be the corrected behaviour rather than a new problem. See Bethesda’s October 20 patch notes for the confirmed change.
How to get a Fallout 76 Pint-Sized Phantom Map

To get a Fallout 76 Pint-Sized Phantom Map, progress The Slasher until Secrets to the Grave is active and complete events or activities while working on that objective. The seasonal quest uses those activities as the route to a Phantom Map, which then gives you the information needed to investigate a disturbed grave.
This is not an item you should expect to buy from a normal vendor. If you are still on the opening mask investigation, finish that layer first. If you have not started the story at all, use our Slasher starting guide before trying to farm map items.
- Start The Slasher through Breaking News.
- Progress into Secrets to the Grave.
- Complete eligible events or activities while the objective is active.
- Check the reward and quest update for a Pint-Sized Phantoms Map.
- Use the map before travelling to a grave location.
How to use a Fallout 76 Pint-Sized Phantom Map
Open the Phantom Map when Secrets to the Grave asks for it, then use the location clue to find the disturbed grave. These are activity-related clues, not permanent markers for every grave in Appalachia.
Bring a shovel before travelling. The grave phase is explicitly built around digging, and arriving without the tool can turn a quick Fallout 76 Pint-Sized Phantom Map run into another fast-travel detour. The separate Disturbed Grave locations guide covers the repeatable activity and what you can receive once you reach the correct grave.
Why the map is not showing a grave
If a Phantom Map isn’t advancing the quest, check that Secrets to the Grave is tracked in your Pip-Boy. Then make sure you’re using the map item required by that objective rather than one already consumed in a previous grave dig.
Update 1.7.27.11 blocks repeated use of a grave-digging map while it’s stored in the stash. If an old method relying on the stash no longer works, that’s expected. Check the map in your inventory and follow the intended grave objective instead.
Can you farm Phantom Maps?
Disturbed Graves can be part of a repeatable activity, but that doesn’t make one map infinitely reusable. Continue the relevant Slasher quests and activities to obtain other eligible map clues.
That makes the maps most useful when combined with other live goals. Run public events, Slasher objectives or your normal activity loop, then convert the map drops into grave runs when you have several reasons to be travelling around Appalachia.
Best way to handle Fallout 76 Pint-Sized Phantom Map efficiently
For a straightforward run, keep Secrets to the Grave tracked, bring a shovel and follow the map’s location clue before travelling. The stash exploit is no longer a reliable way to repeat the same dig.
Once you’ve found the disturbed grave, dig there with your shovel and check the resulting quest update before using another map. Bethesda’s October 20 patch specifically addresses repeated use of a stashed map; it doesn’t give a new drop rate or guarantee unlimited digs from one item.
