Fallout 76 Maintenance October 20: Servers Down Time and Status

Mischief Night Rapidan Camp finale

Fallout 76 maintenance began on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 3 PM BST in the UK. Bethesda took PC, Xbox and PlayStation servers offline at 10 AM Eastern Time to deploy update 1.7.27.11. The update includes Slasher quest repairs, Infestation changes and crash fixes. Bethesda’s maintenance announcement did not specify a guaranteed reopening hour.

Bethesda has now released Update 1.7.27.11 and its October 20 patch notes. The update addresses Slasher quest items, Infestation rewards, C.A.M.P. objects, equipment and several crashes. The 3 PM BST shutdown time is confirmed, but Bethesda hasn’t given a guaranteed server-reopening hour. Check its live status portal before assuming maintenance has ended.

Fallout 76 maintenance October 20: Patch 1.7.27.11 notes

Bethesda lists the following platform download sizes for October 20. Allow extra room for installation and file verification, especially on Microsoft Store and consoles.

PlatformDownload size
PC (Steam)Approximately 6.7 GB
PC (Microsoft Store)Approximately 18.5 GB
XboxApproximately 18.4 GB
PlayStationApproximately 17.4 GB

Players investigating The Slasher have several fixes to look for. Masked Truth notes and clippings should now survive character reloads, and Bethesda has stopped the quest from advancing using a different player’s dropped note. Slasher grave maps can no longer be reused repeatedly from a stash. The missing children’s book page guide covers the earlier bug and workaround.

Infestations now award more Legendary Scrip, and Electric Absorption should trigger correctly against their enemies. One issue is still outstanding: Bethesda says some Infestations can automatically complete, and the team is investigating it. Among the other repairs are Slasher Wanted Poster placement in C.A.M.P.s, Tunnel of Love recipe drops, weapon damage calculations involving the Gamma Gun and Cremator, and crashes on Xbox Series and PS5.

Fallout 76 maintenance October 20: UK and global start times

The official October 16 Steam announcement sets the October 20 downtime at 10 AM ET / 9 AM CT. That converts to 3 PM BST in the UK, because British Summer Time continues until October 25. The servers go offline together worldwide, not at different regional times.

Region Start time October 20
UK 3 PM BST
Eastern US 10 AM EDT
Central US 9 AM CDT
Pacific US 7 AM PDT
Central Europe 4 PM CEST
UTC 2 PM

The shutdown affected expeditions, Daily Ops and seasonal activities while the servers were unavailable. Switching to another public world couldn’t bypass the scheduled all-platform maintenance.

Why is Fallout 76 maintenance happening?

The October 20 Fallout 76 maintenance deployed update 1.7.27.11. Bethesda’s notes cover Slasher quest progression, Infestations, C.A.M.P. objects, weapon damage and stability repairs. This was a bug-fix update, not a new seasonal expansion or the separate World Pets PTS.

Two useful Slasher changes are included. Bethesda says Masked Truth quest objects, including article clippings, are now preserved when the character loads. It also fixed a way to advance that quest using another player’s dropped note. For Secrets to the Grave, the update prevents repeated use of a grave-digging map from the stash.

How long will Fallout 76 maintenance last?

There is no confirmed end time. Bethesda has only announced the start. Claims that the October 20 shutdown will definitely last two or three hours are estimates, not a published schedule. The deployment could finish sooner or later depending on server work.

To find out when Fallout 76 maintenance ends, check the official Bethesda Status Portal. The portal is the best place to distinguish an ongoing planned shutdown from a new outage after the deployment.

Which platforms were affected by the October 20 downtime?

The October 20 maintenance affected all supported platforms, including Steam and other PC versions, PlayStation and Xbox. Bethesda scheduled one global shutdown, not separate maintenance windows for each platform.

There’s no client-side setting that brings an online world back during official maintenance. If Bethesda’s status page shows the game offline, wait for the update rather than reinstalling the game.

How to check when Fallout 76 is online again

Open Bethesda Status and look for Fallout 76’s service listing. During Fallout 76 maintenance, you should expect the game to be unavailable. Once Bethesda confirms the servers are operational, launch your platform’s updater and install any pending patch before trying to reconnect.

If the service is operational but you still get a connection error, close the game and restart your launcher or console, then confirm the download finished. Bethesda’s Steam announcements may also include a follow-up when servers reopen.

Will the update interrupt Halloween rewards?

The October 20 maintenance overlaps the Halloween event schedule, so any time-limited quests, Atomic Shop offers or Mischief Night activities are affected while servers are offline. Check the Bethesda status portal to see whether service has returned before attempting another activity.

Bethesda hasn’t announced compensation or a guaranteed extension for missed tasks. See our Mischief Night walkthrough and current Atomic Shop guide for those rewards.

How to check Fallout 76 servers after the October 20 update

The scheduled maintenance took place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. If you’re having trouble connecting after installing update 1.7.27.11, check the official Bethesda Status Portal for the game’s latest service state. Yesterday’s maintenance notice isn’t a live outage alert for October 21.

If Bethesda reports normal service but your game still won’t connect, make sure your platform downloaded the patch and restart the launcher before trying again. The October 20 patch notes explain the gameplay fixes; Bethesda Status covers any ongoing service issues.
