It’s the LCS Summer Playoffs round 3, and the stakes could not be higher. Of the six teams left, only three can move on to the final round and a spot at the World Championship.

Will TSM and Counter Logic Gaming make the run in the lower bracket, or will Team Liquid Honda and Evil Geniuses fend them off and make it to fight for the final spot available? It all comes down to this.

The underdog story for CLG ended after round three of the LCS Summer Playoffs. Despite having a two-game lead, the young roster could not close things out against the veteran roster of Team Liquid Honda. The team showed promise but was not able to capitalize on it. Hopefully, the team can stay together next year and continue developing.

The second underdog story has ended for TSM. After the loss to Evil Geniuses, their season is over. The team that saw many different roster changes went farther than anyone could have expected, but the run is over for their fans. If they stay together, this roster is more up in the air, with star player Spica’s contract expiring in November.

Since both teams had already booked their place at Worlds, this was a fight for a spot at the finals instead. After a run through the upper bracket, the roster of Coud9 has finally awoken. The team looked good against the second-seeded 100 Thieves. With the loss, 100 Thieves still have a shot at the finals, but they have to beat the match winner between Team Liquid Honda and Evil Geniuses.

The young roster of Evil Geniuses, the same team that represented North America at MSI 2022, has made it to Worlds. After knocking Team Liquid Honda out of playoffs, they made the final three, sending them to Chicago for a shot at playing at the LCS Summer finals. Their spot was not guaranteed, but it was hard fought and earned through battle.

For Team Liquid Honda, their season is finished. The super team made up of European star players was unable to finish the deal and book their ticket to Worlds. For the team, this result is unmistakably a failure of a season. The expectations for the team were high, and they could not meet them. It is unknown if the players will stay with the team or return home to Europe, only time will tell what will happen.

Since the LCS Summer Playoffs round 3 has come to an end, the only thing left is the LCS Summer Finals weekend. First up will be Evil Geniuses taking on 100 Thieves for a chance to face off against Cloud9 for the LCS trophy.
