The 2021 League of Legends World Championship Semifinals came to a close with Edward Gaming, the LPL first seed, going against Gen.G, the LCK third seed.

Edward Gaming has never made it to the World Championship Finals ever in the lifetime of the team, and if Gen.G made it, it would have been they had won the tournament known as Samsung Galaxy. It was all down to this series to make team history.

Edward Gaming Moves On

When Edward Gaming joined the LPL in China, they had an amazing start. They won the first-ever MSI, and won multiple regional titles, but could never make it to the World Championship Finals.

After today, that all changed. After bringing in Viper this year, they have made team history. This series victory wasn’t off the back of just Scout either, the long-term mid laner, it was a team victory at the end where everyone played well.

The Finals Are Set

After the victory by Edward Gaming today and the victory by Damwon Kia yesterday, the 2021 League of Legends World Championship Finals is all set.

Both teams had to play five games to make it to this point, and both series of the semifinals was exciting from start to finish. Viewers can only hope that the finals have the same fireworks that we’ve seen already.

This final is also the first time that the LPL first seed and the LCK first seed will face off in the finals. To start the tournament off, two of the three teams didn’t make it out of the group stage, and the remaining two teams had to face off to make it to the Semifinals. There was a chance that there would be a World Final with both teams being from the LCK.
