Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1 Patch Notes: Pawn Fixes, Vocations and Quest Repairs

Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen Norgan official snowy battle

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1 fixes Warrior’s Goring Lunge, Magick Archer’s lock-on targeting and Mystic Spearhand’s Mirour Vesture, alongside pawn behaviour and broken quests. The October 15–16 patch also addresses a Back to the Temple failure bug and problems with Hal’s tailoring service.

If your pawns have been ignoring the Explore command or falling off cliffs, there are fixes here too. Capcom says cliff falls should happen less often, not that they’ve been eliminated completely. Here is what changed and which platforms have received the update.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1: All changes at a glance

These are the major Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1 fixes, grouped by the part of the game they affect. It’s a repair release following the Dark Arisen launch, with changes ranging from combat inputs to save-screen oddities.

Area Change
Warrior Goring Lunge cancellation works without a follow-up attack
Magick Archer Lock-on targeting fixed
Mystic Spearhand Mirour Vesture effect works between the Arisen and Sigurd
Pawns Explore command, weapon sheathing, airborne reactions, eye movement; cliff falls reduced
NPCs Hal tailoring, Norgan mortuary placement and pacing behaviour
Quests Back to the Temple’s false failure and missing mechanisms
Equipment and UI Tailored appearance, Warfarer storage, button mapping and saved statistics
Enemies Chimera grab escape and skeleton eye glow
Steam Text-entry bug involving the less-than symbol

Goring Lunge, Magick Archer and Mystic Spearhand

Cancelling Warrior’s Goring Lunge could accidentally trigger another attack. In Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1, the cancellation now behaves as intended. Magick Archer has its broken lock-on functionality restored, which will be welcome if you’ve had trouble choosing targets.

Mystic Spearhand’s fix is more specific: the effect of Mirour Vesture sometimes wouldn’t trigger between the Arisen and Sigurd. The patch restores that interaction; it doesn’t add a new vocation skill or announce damage balance changes.

Pawn AI, falling off cliffs and exploring

Several Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1 changes tackle pawn frustration directly. Pawns should respond to Explore rather than standing still, sheathe their weapons after combat, and be less likely to fall off cliffs. Capcom’s wording about cliffs is careful: it has reduced the frequency, so you still need to pay attention when travelling along steep terrain.

The update also fixes cases where enemies sent pawns flying unexpectedly and where their eyes pointed in unnatural directions. Some facial expressions for pawns and the Arisen have been adjusted. If a pawn still gets stuck in one area, the Explore and cliff changes shouldn’t be mistaken for a full rewrite of the game’s pathfinding.

Back to the Temple and Hal’s Tailor Equipment

The Back to the Temple quest could be marked as failed even when its objectives were fulfilled. Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1 fixes that false failure. It also corrects missing mechanisms needed to make progress in certain other quests, although the official notes don’t list each affected quest by name.

Hal’s Tailor Equipment option could trigger unrelated dialogue and prevent the service from opening. That is fixed, along with a bug where tailored equipment reverted to its original appearance after escaping gaol by bribing guards. If Back to the Temple was already marked as failed on your save, install the patch and inspect its status. Capcom hasn’t explained whether every previously failed quest state is restored automatically.

Norgan NPCs and other repairs

NPCs and unhired pawns sometimes paced back and forth endlessly. Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1 fixes that behaviour, along with cases where dead Norgan NPCs didn’t appear in the mortuary and other NPCs who had died before Update 4.0 were placed there incorrectly.

The interface fixes cover Dash 2’s button-map display and Reset Camera or Weapon Skill 5/6 bindings reverting after relaunch. Warfarer players also get a storage fix: selecting a different weapon from storage should correctly put the old weapon back. Times Fallen statistics will no longer carry into a different save slot. Missing tutorial text, incorrect Equip prompts after appraisal and an InvalidMsg message for two support-pawn clothing items are also fixed.

Elsewhere, skeletons’ eyes glow again, players can escape a chimera’s grab, a rain-like save-screen effect is removed and oxcarts can no longer be boarded outside their operating hours in circumstances that caused abnormal travel. Steam gets its own correction for text entry involving the less-than symbol.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1 platforms and download sizes

The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1 notes cover PS5 Pro, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. The Nintendo Switch 2 patch is being prepared separately. It isn’t part of the confirmed rollout. Don’t assume the Switch 2 patch is installed just because PC and other consoles have received it.

Players have reported downloads of around 1.7 GB on PS5 and 2.3 GB on Steam, but Capcom hasn’t provided a universal size for every installation. Check your own launcher for the exact download. Some patch listings call this update 4.100, while the title update itself is commonly called 4.1.

Does Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1 add content?

No fresh story, vocation or region is announced in Dragon’s Dogma 2 Update 4.1. The major Dark Arisen additions and Hard Mode arrived with the October 9 launch and Update 4.0. This patch addresses issues that could interrupt combat, quests, pawns and equipment customisation.
