Diablo 5 Classes confirmed at BlizzCon 2026 are Demon Hunter, Monk and the all-new Plague Knight. Blizzard revealed the first three during the Forging the Next Era panel and made an even bigger promise: Diablo V is planned to launch with more classes than any previous Diablo game has had in total.
Every confirmed Diablo V class
The current Diablo 5 Classes list contains three names. Demon Hunter and Monk return from earlier games, while Plague Knight is completely new to the series.
Blizzard stressed that these are only the first reveals. Diablo V is not due until Spring 2029, and regular development updates are expected to begin in 2027.
Demon Hunter
Demon Hunter returns with the identity players remember: twin crossbows, speed, acrobatics and attacks from the shadows. Blizzard specifically highlighted the class leaping through the battlefield and pinning demons against walls.
Among the revealed Diablo 5 Classes, Demon Hunter is currently the clearest ranged archetype. The final skill tree has not been shown, so familiar Diablo III abilities should not automatically be treated as returning.
Monk
Monk is also back, bringing fast martial-arts combat and holy power. Blizzard described the class battering demons with its fists and calling down holy attacks against enemies outside punching range.
That gives the Diablo 5 Classes roster an immediate close-range speed option without making Monk identical to the armored Plague Knight. Monk also matters because it tells us Blizzard is willing to revive classes that skipped Diablo IV rather than only carrying forward the most recent roster. That opens the door to older favourites returning after a long absence without confirming any one of them yet.

Plague Knight
Plague Knight is Diablo V’s first announced brand-new class. It is heavily armored, spreads disease and pestilence across the battlefield, then consumes those afflictions for power.
That disease-and-consumption loop is the most original mechanic Blizzard has described for the first Diablo 5 Classes reveals. We have not yet seen the complete abilities, resource system or weapon restrictions.
How many classes will Diablo V have?
Blizzard says Diablo V will launch with more classes than ever before. During the panel, the team went further and explained that it does not simply mean more than another Diablo game had on its original launch day; the target is more than previous entries have had in total.
An exact number has not been announced. It would therefore be a mistake to convert that statement into a made-up eight, nine or ten-class roster before Blizzard names the rest. The claim is still unusually ambitious because it refers to the breadth of the finished lineup, not merely three launch classes plus years of expansions afterward.

Are Barbarian, Sorcerer or Necromancer confirmed?
No. They are obvious candidates because they are iconic parts of the series, but none was part of the first Diablo 5 Classes announcement.
The same applies to Crusader, Witch Doctor, Rogue, Spiritborn and other previous archetypes. Their history makes them plausible, not confirmed.
Will there be more new classes?
Yes. Blizzard has already said Plague Knight is not the end of the reveal cycle and that additional Diablo 5 Classes are coming before release.
The wording also leaves room for more original archetypes alongside returning favourites, which makes the eventual lineup much harder to predict from previous games alone.
Why is the class roster so large?
Diablo V is being built around a long-term item and build system inspired by older Diablo design, and a larger roster gives Blizzard more distinct ways to express that depth.
Demon Hunter, Monk and Plague Knight already occupy very different spaces: ranged agility, martial holy combat and armored disease manipulation. The challenge will be keeping the remaining Diablo 5 Classes equally distinctive instead of padding the count with near-duplicates.
When will Blizzard reveal more?
Blizzard plans regular Diablo V development updates beginning in 2027. Classes, progression, combat and build possibilities are specifically among the areas the studio says it will discuss as development continues.
For now, the confirmed Diablo 5 Classes are Demon Hunter, Monk and Plague Knight. The interesting part is that Blizzard is openly telling players this three-class list is only a small slice of the final Spring 2029 roster.
