Crimson Desert Karin Quarry is liberated during House Roberts’ Estate in Dismay faction questline. Defeat Marni’s Excavatron and clear the Bleed Bandits, then finish the quarry’s follow-up quests. This unlocks the mining dispatch required for the Greymanes’ Secure Resources quest, which leads towards Luke’s Request and the expanded housing prerequisite for Charting the Unknown.
Secure Resources uses the Greymanes’ mining dispatch, but the quarry is first liberated through the House Roberts faction storyline. If Simple Mining is greyed out, check the faction quest and the quarry’s map menu rather than repeatedly sending workers from Howling Hill.
How to unlock Crimson Desert Karin Quarry
Crimson Desert Karin Quarry becomes accessible as a working settlement during Estate in Dismay. Start near Bluemont Manor in Hernand and progress through the House Roberts missions in order.
| Mission | What to do |
|---|---|
| First Trial of Trust | Help Erich and clear Bleed Bandits at the cask house |
| Troubled Count | Talk to Count Roberts at the manor |
| Stolen Quarry | Defeat Excavatron and liberate Karin Quarry |
| Sealed in Stone | Extract the relic using the large crane |
| The Count’s Honor | Report back for the final faction reward |
The liberation step is separate from the Greymanes’ stone-collection dispatch. Opening a quarry on the map doesn’t automatically mean you can use it as a worksite; continue the House Roberts quest until the occupation is cleared.

Where to start the House Roberts questline
To reach Crimson Desert Karin Quarry, begin First Trial of Trust near Bluemont Manor. Speak with the House Roberts representatives and defeat the Bleed Bandits at the nearby cask house. Once the location is liberated, return to Erich and meet Count Roberts.
In Troubled Count, you’ll be directed towards the occupied quarry. Track Stolen Quarry in the faction Journal so the objective marker identifies the Excavatron arena and nearby enemy groups. Carry healing and repair your equipment before going in; the fight has a dangerous mechanical boss rather than only ordinary bandits.
How to beat Marni’s Excavatron
The main obstacle at Crimson Desert Karin Quarry is the Excavatron. Avoid standing in front of its powerful drills. Dodge around its attacks and use Force Palm during vulnerable moments to stagger or interrupt it, then follow with controlled attacks. When it burrows underground, sprint away from the approaching danger rather than repeatedly rolling without enough stamina.
After the machine falls, clear remaining Bleed Bandits until the quarry liberation progress completes. Stolen Quarry awards a Mining Knuckledrill and Gold Vein Map, as documented in the House Roberts quest record. You can then move on to the relic-recovery objective.
Sealed in Stone: how to operate the crane
After liberating Crimson Desert Karin Quarry, find Erich near the central crane. He gives you access to the control room. Ride the lift, unlock the controls and manoeuvre the crane claw towards the buried relic. Lower it carefully, adjust both sides until they lock onto the object, then raise it.
Large movements can overshoot the target. Make small adjustments while watching the claw position; once the relic is extracted, the quarry opens another area worth exploring. Return to Count Roberts afterwards for The Count’s Honor, with rewards including an Engraved Gold Earring and crafting minerals.

How to start Simple Mining at Karin Quarry
Once Crimson Desert Karin Quarry is liberated, open the world map and inspect the quarry marker. Switch to Missions and select Simple Mining, also described as Basic Quarry in some quest text. Assign available Greymane comrades, start the dispatch and allow its timer to finish.
Some players report the quarry mission works directly from the map even while Ross’s main dispatch list looks greyed out. That makes the worksite’s own Missions tab the best first check. When the mining assignment completes, return to the Secure Resources quest counter; you’ll also need Basic Logging at Timberham Sawmill.
Why can’t I select Karin Quarry?
If Crimson Desert Karin Quarry still has no accessible dispatch, look for unfinished House Roberts objectives. Ensure you’ve beaten Excavatron, cleared the remaining occupation and progressed Estate in Dismay. Then inspect the quarry itself, not an empty point on the map or the ordinary Greymane Camp menu.
A successful mining assignment advances Secure Resources, which leads to Luke’s Request. The latter teaches home decoration and is confirmed by Pearl Abyss as a DLC housing prerequisite. You can also check our missing map discovery guide for unrelated marker problems.
What else is worth doing at the quarry?
Crimson Desert Karin Quarry has more value than one resource dispatch. The Sealed in Stone relic opens an additional exploration area, while the final House Roberts rewards include useful equipment and materials. Finish those quests if you want the faction fully resolved before returning to your camp upgrades.
