The Command An Army Update 2 Units are Rapier and Rapier Knight, two surprise additions that arrived alongside Guilds and Ranked on September 19. Both are connected to the new Parry trait, giving the update a unit mechanic that was not part of the earlier public roadmap.
That matters because players had been expecting Mongol content around this update window. The live build went in a different direction: the Command An Army Update 2 Units are the Rapier line, while the previously discussed Mongol unit remains planned for a future free, quest-based Battle Pass.
All Command An Army Update 2 Units

| Unit | Update | New mechanic |
|---|---|---|
| Rapier | Update 2 | Parry trait |
| Rapier Knight | Update 2 | Parry trait / Rapier line |
Rapier and Rapier Knight are the only two new troop names documented in the live Update 2 record. Unlike Update 1, which focused heavily on shield-breaking Spear, Halberd, Javelin and Mace options, the Command An Army Update 2 Units introduce a new trait identity.
What is Rapier in Command An Army?
Rapier is a new unit added in Update 2 and is specifically associated with Parry. It joins a roster where troop identity is increasingly defined by specialised mechanics rather than rarity alone, following Update 1’s block-damage and shield-interaction units.
The public patch record does not give a reliable final star rating, summon percentage or full stat card for Rapier. Those values should be read from the current in-game unit panel before spending Gems. Publishing a guessed banner rate would be more harmful than leaving a number out until it is verified.
What is Rapier Knight?
Rapier Knight is the second of the Command An Army Update 2 Units and belongs to the same Rapier theme. The update record connects the pair to Parry, making Rapier Knight the higher-profile companion to the new base Rapier addition.
The normal Command An Army evolution system requires specific documented paths and Mastery level 20 for evolvable troops, but the live public sources do not yet provide a complete Rapier-to-Rapier-Knight evolution requirement. Do not assume that Rapier Knight uses exactly the same route or costs as an older troop line until the unit screen confirms it.

What does Parry do in Command An Army?
Parry is the new trait introduced with the Rapier line in Update 2. The developer’s public update record confirms the trait and associates it specifically with Rapier units, but it does not currently publish a complete mechanical description covering trigger timing, block percentage, cooldown or every attack it can counter.
For that reason, the useful confirmed answer is that Parry is a defining mechanic of the Command An Army Update 2 Units, not a global trait suddenly added to every melee troop. Exact combat behaviour should be checked against the live unit tooltip and battle testing rather than inferred from the word parry.
Are the Update 2 units Mongol units?
No. Rapier and Rapier Knight are what actually shipped in the September 19 update. The Mongol unit discussed before launch did not arrive with the Command An Army Update 2 Units.
The developer has instead described the Mongol content as part of a future free Battle Pass progressed through quests. That means there is no reason to invent a current Mongol banner, rarity list or evolution chain for Update 2.
Should you spend Gems for Rapier yet?
Check the live acquisition screen before spending. Command An Army uses several different routes for units, including Standard Banner summons and evolution lines, and the public Update 2 notes do not provide a trustworthy full Rapier odds table.
The good news is that Update 2 also adds four new codes worth 300 Gems each: `RANKED`, `GUILD`, `PARRY` and `RAPIER`. That gives players 1,200 extra Gems before accounting for the six older active codes. Use our Command An Army Codes guide before spending currency on the new roster.
What else changed with the new units?
Update 2 also raises Spearman and Pikeman squad sizes from 24 to 28, adds the nine-rank Ranked ladder and introduces Guilds. That makes the Command An Army Update 2 Units only one part of a broader systems patch.
