Irisalis is the model for Aniimo’s launch Legendary encounter design. Instead of repeatedly entering an encounter and hoping a low catch roll succeeds, players build toward the fight by collecting Legendary Tokens through world exploration and story progress.
Those tokens are used to craft a personal Legendary Aniipod. Crafting it unlocks Irisalis’s exclusive story and causes the special encounter to appear on the map. The player follows the story, defeats Irisalis and then uses the crafted Legendary Aniipod to complete the bond.
Pawprint Studio says the encounter happens once, and the redesigned process is intended to become the template for future Legendary Aniimo. That makes Legendary Tokens progression currency for a guaranteed, authored capture route rather than a consumable used for repeated random attempts.
How the catch formula works
Aniimo Legendary Tokens also connects to this part of the launch build. Catching is unusually transparent because Pawprint Studio has published the multipliers behind the final chance.
Aniimo uses a real catch formula rather than a vague hidden luck check. Outside combat the final chance uses base chance, Aniipod multiplier, level multiplier, back-attack multiplier and special-status multiplier. In combat, the HP multiplier replaces the back-attack component. Defeated targets use a separate defeated base chance with the Aniipod and status multipliers.
Level difference can hurt a catch sharply when the target is more than ten levels above the character. Eleven levels higher gives a 0.8 multiplier, 12 gives 0.6, 13 gives 0.4, 14 gives 0.2 and 15 or more gives 0.1. Being higher level than the Aniimo does not add a further bonus, so overlevelling is not an infinite catch-rate trick.
Using Twine in combat and traversal
Aniimo Legendary Tokens also connects to this part of the launch build. Twining changes both movement and combat because the Pathfinder actually takes on the selected Aniimo’s form and abilities.
Twining is Aniimo’s signature transformation system. Instead of only issuing commands to a creature, the Pathfinder can merge with an Aniimo and take on its form, movement abilities and combat kit. The system is used for exploration, puzzles and real-time combat, so a creature’s value is not limited to its battle statistics.
Different Aniimo open different movement options. Official material shows climbing, gliding, flying, diving, burrowing, detection and other traversal abilities across the roster. That turns team building into an exploration choice as well as a combat choice: bringing the right Aniimo can create a cleaner route through the world or unlock a puzzle solution.

Aniimo Legendary Tokens is easier to handle if the important steps are done in the right order. The important change is that Legendary progress is cumulative. Exploration and story play feed Legendary Tokens, which feed the personal Legendary Aniipod, which opens the one-time encounter. There is no reason to spam ordinary pods at Irisalis hoping the old test behaviour still applies.
