Fortnite Birthday Llamas Starter Pack Heroes: How to Get Legacy Items in v43.00

Fortnite Birthday Llamas Starter Pack Heroes are now among the possible rewards in Save the World. Update v43.00 added Heroes and items from the original paid Starter Packs to Birthday Llamas, including unopened ones you’ve kept from earlier events.

If you’ve been saving Birthday Llamas, you can open them now for a chance at one of those older rewards. There’s also a way to buy the returning Heroes and Schematics with Gold from November 19.

Fortnite Birthday Llamas Starter Pack Heroes: what changed?

You don’t need to earn a newly issued Llama. The v43.00 reward-pool change also applies to Birthday Llamas that were already sitting unopened in your account.

Epic has changed what Birthday Llamas can contain, not handed out an unlimited supply of them. The chance of a specific Starter Pack item hasn’t been published, so there are no guaranteed drops to plan around.

How to check saved Birthday Llamas

Open Save the World and check whether you still have unopened Birthday Llamas. You can open one now and see whether it contains a legacy Starter Pack reward; there’s no need to wait for the Frozen Fjords shop.

The Fortnite Birthday Llamas Starter Pack Heroes change does not alter every kind of Llama. An Upgrade Llama or another named Llama shouldn’t be assumed to have this updated Starter Pack pool. Keep the type of Llama in mind before using your saved rewards.

A Birthday Llama can still give you other rewards. Epic says Starter Pack items can appear, not that every Llama includes one. That’s worth remembering if you’ve been keeping a Llama unopened for a long time.

Fortnite Birthday Llamas Starter Pack Heroes: which items can drop?

Epic confirms Heroes and items from the original Starter Packs are eligible. Its notes don’t contain an item-by-item list, so use the rewards shown in your Llama rather than assuming one named Hero is certain to appear.

One of the original paid packs was Metal Team Leader, which included the Metal Team Leader Hero and Papa Bear Schematic. The original promotional image shows that historical bundle. Receiving a playable Hero isn’t the same as getting its matching cosmetic Outfit.

Can you add the rewards to your Collection Book?

Yes. You can slot the legacy Heroes and items into the Collection Book. If you’re trying to finish older entries, that makes the newly eligible Llama rewards useful even when you don’t need the Hero in a loadout.

The Fortnite Birthday Llamas Starter Pack Heroes update doesn’t mean those same items can already be researched or recruited with vouchers. Epic says voucher access to the legacy items is coming at a later date. That’s a separate change from being allowed to slot a copy.

What if you don’t have any Birthday Llamas?

You’ll have another route starting 19 November 2026. During Frozen Fjords, original Starter Pack Epic Heroes and Schematics will be available for Gold in Exchange > Event Items. Unlike the Llama roll, you can choose from the items actually listed in the store.

Epic hasn’t shared the prices or the precise time the Event Items stock changes on November 19. Our Starter Pack Heroes Gold-store guide explains the seasonal return without treating the unannounced shop hour as confirmed.

If you bought one of the packs when it originally launched, you’re also due separate Gold and a Hero Recruitment Voucher under Epic’s compensation plan. That entitlement has nothing to do with whether your Birthday Llama gives you a particular item. See our Starter Pack compensation guide.

Saved Birthday Llamas are now worth checking for legacy rewards. Open the ones you have for a chance at a Hero or item, or use Gold in Event Items from November 19 if you’d rather buy from the selection available in the shop.
