Fortnite Grave Feather Hero is the new Save the World reward for completing the Portal Combat questline. The October 15 update introduces a Hero built around Lefty and Righty, the dual-pistol ability that can become much more effective when critical-hit support is added.
Grave Feather has two distinct perk strengths. Standard Ghoulslinger gives Lefty and Righty +15 Critical Rating, while Ghoulslinger+ gives +45 Critical Rating and adds a 40% chance to summon a Phantasm on a critical hit. The reward is available through Portal Combat until November 18.
How to earn Grave Feather

Open Save the World, locate the Portal Combat questline and work through its listed missions. Grave Feather is awarded through this questline rather than as a random rare schematic dropped by a Cube Monster.
Fortnite Grave Feather Hero is limited by Portal Combat’s November 18 end date. Track the Portal Combat questline under Save the World’s Quest Log and finish its objectives before November 18 to claim Grave Feather.
What Ghoulslinger does
The standard Ghoulslinger perk improves Lefty and Righty by adding 15 Critical Rating. It isn’t described as a general bonus to every weapon you own or a new active ability that replaces the dual pistols.
This makes Fortnite Grave Feather Hero relevant to a particular combat build. You get value from it when you’re using Lefty and Righty, not merely by equipping any Assault Rifle during a mission.
Ghoulslinger+ commander effects
Ghoulslinger+ boosts Lefty and Righty by 45 Critical Rating. It also adds a 40% chance for critical hits to summon a Phantasm, giving the commander version an extra supernatural attack effect.
Fortnite Grave Feather Hero doesn’t guarantee one Phantasm per bullet. A critical hit must occur and the stated chance must trigger, so the expected behaviour is occasional Phantasm summons rather than nonstop guaranteed spawns.
Should Grave Feather be your commander?
Choose the commander version if Lefty and Righty is central to your build and you want the stronger Critical Rating plus Phantasm effect. If another Hero is more important as commander, Grave Feather can still contribute through the smaller standard perk.
The correct setup depends on your team and the mission. Fortnite Grave Feather Hero is best evaluated in a Lefty and Righty loadout instead of treating its numbers as a universal gun damage multiplier.

How this relates to other Hero changes
Epic also adjusted Lefty and Righty perks for Evelynn and Noir in the same patch. Those changes can influence which Heroes you combine in a loadout, even though Grave Feather is the new reward tied specifically to Portal Combat.
When you build around Fortnite Grave Feather Hero, compare the actual perk text for your other Heroes. Some improve the ability’s uptime or combat performance, but the announced Grave Feather benefit is the critical-hit interaction.
Portal Combat versus Challenge the Rift
Challenge the Rift is a separate new Save the World encounter. It costs four BluGlo and offers Gold, PERK-UP! and an Evolution Materials Cache for defeating a sealed mini-boss.
Fortnite Grave Feather Hero is connected to completing Portal Combat, not simply opening the Rift rewards once. Check the actual quest objective before assuming one encounter completion automatically unlocks the Hero.
How to check Grave Feather after unlocking
After completing the questline, open your Save the World Hero collection and inspect Grave Feather’s Ghoulslinger and Ghoulslinger+ text. Build your loadout around Lefty and Righty if you want the perk’s specific benefits.
The Fortnite Grave Feather Hero reward was confirmed in Epic’s v42.40 notes. The final quest-by-quest route, which wasn’t fully listed publicly, should not be confused with the perk numbers that Epic has already announced.
