Fortnite Starter Pack compensation gives original Save the World Starter Pack owners Gold for every qualifying pack they own, plus one Hero Recruitment Voucher. Epic announced the rewards alongside the return of legacy Starter Pack Heroes and Schematics in update v43.00.
Gold is awarded for each eligible original pack. The Hero Recruitment Voucher is a separate, single reward, and Epic says both will be credited automatically.
What is included in Fortnite Starter Pack compensation?
There are two rewards: Gold for each original Starter Pack owned and one Hero Recruitment Voucher. You can use the voucher to recruit an eligible Hero from the Collection Book.
| Reward | What Epic confirms |
|---|---|
| Gold | A grant for each original Starter Pack owned |
| Hero Recruitment Voucher | One voucher for an eligible Collection Book Hero |
| Delivery | Automatic; exact credit date not stated |
Epic hasn’t announced how much Gold each pack is worth. The Fortnite Starter Pack compensation covers every qualifying pack with Gold, but it doesn’t award an additional voucher for each extra purchase.
Who qualifies for the Gold and Hero Voucher?
Eligibility is for players who bought the original Save the World Starter Packs while they were available. Joining the game now that it’s free-to-play doesn’t give you an entitlement to this earlier-purchaser reward.
This is an in-game reward, not a refund of the historical pack price. Epic lists Gold and a voucher, not replacement V-Bucks or another copy of the original bundle’s cosmetics.
Is Fortnite Starter Pack compensation the same as the April 2026 reward?
No. They are two separate rewards. When Save the World became free-to-play on April 16, Epic gave existing players a thank-you package that included Superchargers, vouchers and Gold. The new v43.00 compensation specifically recognises ownership of the original paid Starter Packs. Receiving an April reward by itself does not mean you qualify for the new Starter Pack grant.
The distinction matters if you already have a Hero Recruitment Voucher or some Gold in your account. Those older balances aren’t proof that the v43.00 compensation has been credited. Epic is issuing the newer rewards automatically, but has not named the date they will arrive. Our Save the World free-to-play guide explains the earlier change.
How many Hero Recruitment Vouchers do you get?
One Hero Recruitment Voucher. Owning multiple eligible packs increases the number of packs recognised for Gold, not the voucher count Epic has announced.
When your voucher arrives, check which Heroes you can recruit in the Collection Book. There’s no need to spend it immediately, particularly if you’ve been saving one for a specific Hero.
The Fortnite Starter Pack compensation voucher doesn’t mean the newly returning Starter Pack Heroes are already available to recruit. Epic says those Heroes and items will become recruitable or researchable with vouchers later, without giving a date.
When will the compensation arrive?
Epic says the rewards will be credited automatically. It hasn’t confirmed a delivery date. November 19 is the day the old Heroes and Schematics arrive in the Gold store, not a confirmed payout date.
Check your Gold balance and available Hero Recruitment Vouchers as the rollout progresses. With no confirmed payout time, an unchanged balance on November 1 doesn’t show that you have been excluded.
What changes for players who never bought a pack?
The previously pack-exclusive gameplay items are becoming obtainable without their original purchase. Existing Birthday Llamas can already contain original Starter Pack Heroes and items, while Epic-rarity Heroes and Schematics return for Gold on November 19 in Exchange > Event Items.
Original buyers receive compensation, while other players can work towards the returning gameplay items. See the November 19 Gold store and Birthday Llama guide for those two routes.
What if your compensation isn’t showing?
There’s no claim code or button to use: Epic says delivery is automatic. If Epic later confirms all compensation has been sent and yours is still missing, contact Epic Games Support about the original packs you bought.
For now, the confirmed Fortnite Starter Pack compensation is Gold per original pack plus one Hero Recruitment Voucher. Keep the November 19 store date separate from the automatic payment, and don’t count on voucher recruitment of old Starter Pack Heroes until Epic enables it.
