Moon Sweepers multiplayer supports up to 16 players in online co-op, and you can clean the Moon alone in single-player if you prefer. DragDrop Games released its lunar cleaning simulator on Steam for Windows on 23 October 2026.

There is enough dust for a whole crew, but working together isn’t as simple as everyone brushing the same rock. The money comes from collected dust shipped through depots, so larger groups get the most out of organising cleaning, carrying and deliveries together. Here’s what the official Steam listing confirms about playing with friends.

Moon Sweepers multiplayer player limit

The maximum online co-op lobby size is 16 players. Steam lists both single-player and online co-op, meaning you don’t need a full crew to start. A group can spread across the surface to clean different areas or concentrate on the same patch.

That 16-player figure is for Moon Sweepers multiplayer online lobbies, not local split-screen. Steam does not list a split-screen mode for this title. The PC release has no announced console versions, so the 16-player limit doesn’t establish crossplay with Xbox, PlayStation or Switch.

How does Moon Sweepers co-op work?

Each player helps with the same big job: clean the lunar surface, collect dust, transport it to depots and launch shipments for income. That income can be reinvested in better tools, increased carrying capacity and equipment for larger jobs.

A larger crew can spread across different patches or stay together in one area. One straightforward tactic is to have some players clean while others deliver the dust. DragDrop Games also confirmed in its launch patches that equipment upgrades are shared across the crew, so you are building up the same operation rather than six separate businesses.

Can you play Moon Sweepers solo?

Yes. The Steam store explicitly includes single-player. You begin with the same basic toothbrush premise and progress by cleaning, collecting, shipping and improving the operation. With no other players to carry supplies, depot placement becomes useful because you’re handling every part of the job yourself.

Our Moon Sweepers beginner guide walks through that first dust-to-money cycle and how to think about equipment upgrades. It works as a starting point for solo play or a group that’s just launched its first co-op session.

Does Moon Sweepers multiplayer have local split-screen?

The official Steam feature list names Online Co-op and Single-player, but not Shared/Split Screen Co-op. If you have two controllers connected to one Windows PC, that does not establish a supported two-player local mode. Plan around online co-op with separate PCs.

Steam lists full controller support, Steam Cloud and achievements. The Steam Deck compatibility rating is Unknown. The developer has fixed some Proton startup issues, but that alone isn’t a Steam Deck Verified rating.

How to organise a 16-player cleaning crew

For a busy Moon Sweepers multiplayer session, agree on which areas everyone is cleaning and keep the depots supplied. The October 25 patch also fixed dust reappearing for different players and allowed crew members to work on each other’s conveyor systems, which makes shared building easier.

Put depots near the active jobs as you expand. You can invest in larger capacity and better equipment, then work towards cleaning vehicles. Those are the confirmed progression systems. The 1.0.5 patch also added a warning before starting a public game or making your crew public, and points hosts to kick and ban controls under ESC > Your Crew. It is worth checking that setting before allowing strangers into your world.

Does Moon Sweepers multiplayer support crossplay?

Steam currently lists the game as a Windows PC release. It hasn’t announced versions for PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch, so there’s no confirmed cross-platform multiplayer between those consoles and PC. Don’t confuse full controller support on Windows with console availability.

Moon Sweepers multiplayer: the essentials

You can play solo or join an online crew of up to 16. The best sessions keep both sides of the work moving: somebody clears dust, somebody gets it shipped, and the next upgrade benefits the whole team.
