Trine 6 demo is free to download on Steam for Windows PC and includes two playable levels, all five heroes and local or online co-op for up to four players. It is a proper chance to try Frozenbyte’s puzzles and combat before Trine 6: Together in Time launches on 4 March 2027. Progress does not transfer to the finished game.
Released during Steam Next Fest in June 2026, the public trial includes The Isle of Souls and The Hearty Quag. It is separate from the October private playtest, which features newer puzzle changes.
How to download the Trine 6 demo on Steam
Open the Trine 6: Together in Time store page in Steam and select Download Demo. The store still shows a separate demo download ahead of the game’s March launch. You do not need to buy the full game, preorder it or register for a private test to play this version.
The public PC trial arrived during June’s Steam Next Fest. Steam is the confirmed way to download this version, while the invitation-only October playtest is a separate build.
Which two levels are in the Trine 6 demo?
The Isle of Souls sends the heroes to a mysterious island of the dead, where they search for a familiar spirit and try to make their escape. It shows off exploration, platforming and some of the ways characters can work together.
The Hearty Quag brings more combat. You fight Belvedek’s Shrubling minions and take on Grim, a boss described by Frozenbyte as being born from inner darkness. Together, the stages let you try the puzzles and combat without beginning the full campaign.
Can you play the Trine 6 demo with friends?
Yes. The Trine 6 demo works solo and supports up to four players in local or online co-op. You can explore together, time jumps, move objects and use different hero skills to get everyone through a tricky section. The demo has been made with teamwork in mind but does not force you to find a group.
Playing solo lets you switch characters to use the right ability for each obstacle. In co-op, players can share those roles, with puzzles designed to give everyone something to do rather than leaving one player to solve everything.
Which heroes can you use?
All five playable heroes appear in the Trine 6 demo: Amadeus the Wizard, Zoya the Thief, Pontius the Knight, and newcomers Moira and Adrius. Amadeus creates magical objects, Zoya uses a rope and bow, Pontius brings a shield and hammer, Moira has acrobatic abilities, and Adrius uses a spear.
You can try the first tiers of their abilities rather than full endgame builds. That makes the demo useful for learning what each character does, including the new arrivals, before choosing favourites for a full playthrough.
Does Trine 6 demo progress carry over?
No. Frozenbyte says saves from the Trine 6 demo will not transfer into the full game. Finishing the two included levels doesn’t unlock those chapters in your future copy, and the demo’s early skills are not permanent progression for March.
Frozenbyte also says puzzles and encounters may change in response to feedback. Treat the trial as a chance to learn the controls, test the heroes and enjoy co-op, not as a way to make permanent story progress before the release date.
Steam demo versus the private playtest
The Trine 6 demo is the public PC trial. Frozenbyte’s second private playtest runs from 27 October to 2 November 2026 and focuses on revised hero abilities and the new Classic and Freestyle Puzzle Modes. A private test requires its own access and isn’t automatically unlocked when you download the demo.
The private test focuses on the newer puzzles, combat and online play. The free demo is the simpler option if you just want to try Trine 6. Our release-date and playtest guide covers the latest changes.
For now, the Trine 6 demo gives you two locations, five heroes and a way to see whether the new cooperative puzzles are your sort of game. If you enjoy it, the full adventure is scheduled for 4 March 2027.
