Marvel Rivals Thanos Boss Fight is the 50-player Path to Doomsday: Avengers Endgame encounter, a cooperative battle against Thanos at the ruined Avengers Compound. The boss has four phases, progressing from sword attacks to Infinity Stone abilities, missiles from Sanctuary II and a final Snap countdown.
Winning is about staying alive long enough for the whole group to deal damage, not simply picking a high-output hero. Here is how to find the mode, recognise each major attack, choose useful roles and finish the encounter before Thanos can Snap.
Where to find Thanos Descends
Enter Play, open Change Mode and select Thanos Descends when a PvE session is live. The game brings up to 50 heroes together at the ruined Avengers Compound, filling some empty player spaces with AI teammates if necessary. This is a shared fight against Thanos and waves of Chitauri and Sakaaran troops, not the older Infinity War PvP playlist. Start near the group and avoid being isolated by the soldiers as the encounter begins.
Marvel Rivals Thanos Boss Fight: Phase 1: Double-edged sword
Thanos starts with sword swings and ranged sword moves. Watch the direction he faces, step away from his wind-ups and avoid standing directly beside groups of Chitauri. The sword attacks are easier to read than his later Gauntlet abilities, so use this phase to learn his targeting and keep steady damage on him. Staying near a healer is more valuable than squeezing out a little extra damage before a heavy hit lands.

Marvel Rivals Thanos Boss Fight: Phase 2: Infinity Stone attacks
Thanos still uses the sword but adds special powers. The Space Stone allows him to teleport, while Mind Stone effects can stun heroes. One especially dangerous Reality Stone ability marks a red area that turns projectiles into bubbles, preventing normal ranged shots from connecting. Get outside the marked zone before firing. Flying or mobile heroes can reposition quickly as he jumps across the battlefield, but no one is immune to a bad landing.
Marvel Rivals Thanos Boss Fight: Phase 3: Infinity Gauntlet and Sanctuary II
The boss abandons the sword and fights with the Gauntlet. His Power Stone projectiles hurt badly, the Soul Stone creates a beam and the Mind Stone can stop your movement. Watch for him raising the Gauntlet and pausing: that signals a bombardment from Sanctuary II above. Look up, locate the incoming missiles and get moving. Flying heroes are not safe here just because the danger often starts on the ground. Surviving this phase is a bigger contribution than repeatedly being knocked out.
Marvel Rivals Thanos Boss Fight: Phase 4: Stop the Snap
When his health becomes critically low, Thanos becomes stationary and starts charging the Snap. The Endgame Countdown is your final damage check. Turn towards him and attack as a group, using available damage buffs, attacks and Ultimates instead of chasing straggling troops. Supports should keep enough healing available to stop teammates from dying while the team burns down the boss. The fight is won by draining his health before the countdown expires.
Marvel Rivals Thanos Boss Fight: Best damage dealers and team roles
Storm can deliver tremendous damage in this encounter, especially with a Thor team-up, while Phoenix’s Spark mechanics also perform well against Thanos. Iron Man gives another ranged flight option. Jubilee is a standout group healer, with Ultron and Cloak and Dagger offering other ways to keep allies alive. The strongest composition is not fifty damage dealers; keep enough healing in the group for people to survive the Gauntlet phase. If many players pick the same damage hero and everyone is dying, switching to a support role may help the whole team finish.
Marvel Rivals Thanos Boss Fight: How to survive when your health drops
Stay close enough to allies to receive healing, move out of telegraphed red attack zones, and avoid fighting surrounded by soldiers. When Thanos locks on to you, turn away and reposition instead of continuing to stand still. Use Ultimates often enough to help the boss’s large health pool, but avoid throwing yourself into guaranteed death to use one. A healer’s protective and recovery abilities can matter more than an extra projectile, especially during missiles.
Marvel Rivals Thanos Boss Fight: Missions completed in this fight
The Marvel Rivals Thanos Boss Fight is also where you earn the Path to Doomsday cosmetics. Completing one match rewards Captain America’s The Winter Soldier costume and Infinity Finale title. Dealing 20,000 damage to Thanos gives the Thanos Plush and Endgame spray; healing allies 10,000 health gives the Highway Hero MVP animation and the matching Captain America spray. Defeating ten enemies gives a nameplate and On Your Left emote. Check the mission panel after the result screen for what has actually registered.
Marvel Rivals Thanos Boss Fight: What to do if the fight is unavailable
This PvE playlist is open only during scheduled windows, even though the wider Endgame promotion lasts until November 26. If Change Mode does not show Thanos Descends, check the event calendar for the next opening. UK clocks changed to GMT on October 25, so later UTC schedules match UK clocks. Once a session opens, queue early, stay for the results screen, then check which missions registered. The Endgame overview covers the schedule. The Times Square photo ops, earlier gallery card and Infinity Finale have separate objectives; Alchemax 18v18 is another mode.
