Fisch Zombie Nessie is a rare Halloween fish available through the Haunted Cemetery ritual during FischFright 3. To get it, complete seven earlier Cemetery rituals, awaken four Skeletal Hands and give Frankenstein seven Witch’s Ingredients plus Grim, Vile and Doomed Skulls and a Dobhar. That opens a timed Haunted Cemetery encounter, where players must gather fifteen Haunted Bones before the fishing pool appears.
Catching Fisch Zombie Nessie takes more than activating the ritual. You’ll need to collect bones quickly, use Black Licorice bait and fish the special pool during night and Jack-o-Moon conditions. Keep the fish for the later Omniscient Spinecaster ritual, so keep the first one you land instead of selling it. This guide covers the entire ritual, including the timer and what happens if you don’t catch it.
How to unlock the Fisch Zombie Nessie ritual
Take the ghostly Flying Dutchman from Moosewood’s eastern dock to Caustic Hallow. Follow the path towards the Cemetery ritual area and speak to Frankenstein at approximately GPS -15104, 146, -9621. He offers eleven rituals in a fixed progression. Haunted Cemetery is the eighth, so it remains locked until you’ve completed Hexed, Scary Relic, Haunted, Jack-o-Moon, Boglin, Dutchman’s Blessing and Enhanced Boglin in order.

The Fisch Zombie Nessie ceremony requires at least Hex Stage II in Beatrix’s Cauldron and four awakened Skeletal Hands. Awakening hands involves special flowers and a Dark Art Skull earned elsewhere in the event. If any hand is still asleep, consult our Ritual Roses guide before gathering the offerings. The full ritual recipe guide also lists the seven ceremonies you must complete first.
All Haunted Cemetery ritual offerings
Prepare the entire Fisch Zombie Nessie ritual inventory before paying Frankenstein. Seven Witch’s Ingredients go in the Jack-o’-Lantern positions, while four separate fish go into activated Skeletal Hands. The Grim, Vile and Doomed Skulls must be event-compatible versions from FischFright 3, not old items that merely share their names.
| Offering | Placement | How to obtain |
|---|---|---|
| Dirty Candy Corn | Lantern | Goblin challenge rewards |
| Crushed Bone | Lantern | Goblin challenge rewards |
| Strange Root | Lantern | Goblin challenge rewards |
| Giant Mushroom | Lantern | Goblin challenge rewards |
| Spider Eye | Lantern | Goblin challenge rewards |
| Bat Wing | Lantern | Goblin challenge rewards |
| Raven Feather | Lantern | Goblin challenge rewards |
| Grim Skull | Skeletal Hand | Grim Frightful Pool or event rewards |
| Vile Skull | Skeletal Hand | Vile Frightful Pool or event rewards |
| Doomed Skull | Skeletal Hand | Doomed Frightful Pool or event rewards |
| Dobhar | Skeletal Hand | Halloween event fishing, particularly Doomed pool conditions |
Once the items are ready, choose Haunted Cemetery at Frankenstein and pay 100 Treats to begin. Place all eleven offerings in their corresponding positions before the ceremony timer expires. Other players can contribute the required items, but only the player starting a ritual may receive its progression credit, so take care if you need to advance your own chain.
How to spawn the Fisch Zombie Nessie fishing pool
Completing the ritual transports participants into a special Haunted Cemetery arena. The encounter has a short timer, with current playthroughs showing around three minutes for the bone-collection stage. Search around the graveyard for Haunted Bones and deposit them in the central urn or Haunted Cauldron. The pool will not activate until the group has deposited fifteen Haunted Bones.
During the Fisch Zombie Nessie encounter, each player can carry only three Haunted Bones at a time. In a group, divide the cemetery into sections and return to the urn whenever your inventory reaches the carrying limit. Five three-bone deliveries are enough in total; one player can technically make repeated trips, but working together makes it easier to finish within the timer.
After the fifteenth bone enters the urn, the special fishing pool appears. Equip your preferred rod and Black Licorice immediately. The fish does not leap into your inventory automatically: you still need to hook and reel in Fisch Zombie Nessie before the encounter disappears. A missed catch means you’ll need another complete ritual and another fifteen-bone collection.
Best weather, time and bait for Fisch Zombie Nessie
| Condition | Preferred setup |
|---|---|
| Fishing location | Active Haunted Cemetery pool |
| Weather | Jack-o-Moon |
| Time of day | Night |
| Season | Autumn |
| Preferred bait | Black Licorice |
The Fisch Zombie Nessie setup is most favourable on Autumn nights during Jack-o-Moon weather. Black Licorice is its reported preferred bait. A Jack-o-Moon Totem costs 15,000 Treats at the Flying Dutchman merchant and can trigger the appropriate weather if you need it, but avoid spending that much if the weather is already active. Bring the bait before you activate the ritual, since the event is timed.
Keep watching the fishing area once the pool has spawned. Fishing normal water elsewhere in Caustic Hallow is not the same as casting into the encounter pool. If you are lucky enough to land a Fisch Zombie Nessie, protect it for the later Omniscient ritual. A mutated copy still fulfils that fish-name requirement, according to current playthrough reports.

Can friends help catch Fisch Zombie Nessie?
Yes. Friends can place ritual offerings and gather Haunted Bones during the Cemetery encounter. Having several players spread out around the graves helps you meet the fifteen-bone requirement before the timer expires. However, ritual progression credit may go only to the player who initiated the ceremony, so if everyone needs their own unlock you may have to repeat earlier rituals with different hosts.
If you’re aiming for Fisch Zombie Nessie specifically, agree before starting who is supplying the rare Skulls and who is responsible for the bones. Place all ritual materials quickly and have fishing equipment ready. Failing to catch the fish during the short pool window sends you back to the ritual preparation stage rather than leaving the pool active indefinitely.
Why isn’t Zombie Nessie spawning?
First check that the Haunted Cemetery ritual has actually completed. You also need all fifteen Haunted Bones deposited in the central urn; entering the Cemetery alone isn’t enough to summon the fishing pool. If the pool appeared but the fish isn’t biting, check for night, Jack-o-Moon weather and Black Licorice. Even in the right conditions, catching this rare fish isn’t guaranteed on the first cast.
If Frankenstein won’t let you begin, check the seven previous ritual completions, Hex Stage II and four awakened hands. The Boglin Branch guide helps with an earlier ritual-related rod, and our Doomsekkar Rod guide covers another Halloween challenge that can be completed while farming event ingredients.
For the Fisch Zombie Nessie hunt, the safest preparation is to collect every ritual item first, bring players to help fill the urn and carry Black Licorice before the timer begins. That gives you the best opportunity to spend the encounter fishing rather than searching for missing materials.
