Modern Warfare 4 Tactical Sprint: How to Enable It With Blood Rush

Modern Warfare 4 Tactical Sprint requires Blood Rush in Perk 2. Both Blood Rush and custom classes unlock at Player Level 4. Equip the perk, select that class in Multiplayer and press your normal Sprint control. With the launch default of Single Tap Run, one press activates the faster sprint until your stamina runs out.

If you’re returning from the first beta weekend, it’s easy to mistake this for a broken sprint button. Ordinary sprint still works on every class, but Tactical Sprint is no longer part of the default movement kit. You can change the activation to a manual single- or double-tap setting without changing the Blood Rush requirement.

How to enable Modern Warfare 4 Tactical Sprint

To turn on Modern Warfare 4 Tactical Sprint in Multiplayer, complete these steps:

  1. Reach Level 4, which unlocks Create-a-Class and the Blood Rush perk.
  2. Open Multiplayer → Create-a-Class and select the loadout you plan to play.
  3. Open the perk selection and select Perk 2.
  4. Equip Blood Rush, then enter a match with that class selected.
  5. Press your normal Sprint input once. The default activation enters Tactical Sprint until stamina runs low.

There is no separate Blood Rush challenge or weapon unlock. If the Perk 2 slot is unavailable, finish levelling to 4 using a default loadout. Our Create-a-Class guide covers setting up your first custom class.

Why did Tactical Sprint change after the beta?

Modern Warfare 4 Tactical Sprint was available without a perk in the first beta weekend. Infinity Ward moved it to Blood Rush for the second weekend and retained that decision for launch. Because it now takes up a perk slot, the developers removed Tactical Sprint’s additional sprint-out penalty.

Blood Rush replenishes stamina when you get kills. That makes it useful for players who rotate quickly or push objectives, but it competes with five other choices in Perk 2. You cannot select Ninja and Blood Rush simultaneously through the normal one-per-tier system.

Modern Warfare 4 Tactical Sprint controller and keyboard settings

When Modern Warfare 4 Tactical Sprint is enabled, controller players use their assigned Sprint button, usually clicking the left stick on a standard layout. Keyboard players use their current Sprint key. Custom bindings can change either input, so check the Sprint action name under Controls rather than relying on someone else’s button layout.

To change the input, open Settings → Movement Advanced Settings. Infinity Ward confirms that Double Tap and Single Tap Sprint remain available alongside the new Single Tap Run default. Try the alternative in Proving Grounds, which includes movement practice, and keep the one that gives you the best control over when to use your stamina.

For more traversal techniques, our movement walkthrough covers mantle slides, pipes and ledges. Those actions are unrelated to the Blood Rush unlock.

Why can’t I Tactical Sprint?

If Modern Warfare 4 Tactical Sprint won’t activate, check the class you’re currently using. Blood Rush must be selected in Perk 2 on that class; equipping it on a different loadout won’t help. Hardline, Bomb Squad, Fast Hands, Ninja and Birdseye all compete for the same slot.

If Blood Rush is equipped, wait for your stamina to recover and try again. Check Movement Advanced Settings to see whether you’ve selected the double-tap alternative, then confirm the button or key currently bound to Sprint. Players still below Level 4 must unlock Create-a-Class first.

Is Blood Rush better than Ninja or Fast Hands?

That depends on your route through the map. Modern Warfare 4 Tactical Sprint helps cover open ground and rotate between objectives. Ninja is for quieter footsteps, and Fast Hands supports quicker reloads and swaps. These are alternative Perk 2 picks, not bonuses you automatically receive together.

Our Perks guide lists the full launch tiers and unlock levels. For the actual running and sliding practice, use Proving Grounds; the movement guide covers mantling and other traversal techniques. The Multiplayer overview explains where those faster rotations can help.

On an aggressive SMG class, Modern Warfare 4 Tactical Sprint can help you cross a lane or reach the next objective before an opponent. A slower rifle build might get more benefit from Fast Hands or Bomb Squad. The choice comes down to how often you’re actually using that extra burst, not simply whether the perk sounds faster.
