The Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest is Oogie Boogie’s fifth Season of Scares mission, available since October 21, 2026. You must repair his Lucky Wheel, win four minigames for four Oogie Boogie Tiles, then use your Royal Shovel to complete a blue-background picture of Jack Skellington before escaping the Mirror Lair.
The Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest has a catch: winning a minigame doesn’t always put its reward into your bag. You’ll need to open the wheel’s chest, pick up a tile near the dice and collect another by the pumpkin lever. The fishing reward is the exception; it goes straight into your inventory.
How to unlock the Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest

Before starting the Let the Games Begin quest, finish A Halloween Invasion, The Oogie Boogie Contract, The Ghost in the Portrait and Rescue Mission. You should also have unlocked Zero during the earlier missions. Open a mailbox in your Valley, read Oogie Boogie’s new letter and claim the attached Lucky Wheel Cog.
New to Season of Scares? You need Peaceful Meadow, Scrooge’s Store and Chez Remy, then the Strange Mirror inside Scrooge’s Store. Our event starter guide covers the opening. Gameloft only requires you to begin the first quest before November 4; subsequent quests can be finished afterward.
Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest: craft the Lucky Wheel
To craft the Genuinely Lucky Wheel, use a crafting station and six Lucky Wheel Cogs. Five came from The Ghost in the Portrait, when you broke Oogie Boogie’s rigged wheel with your Pickaxe. The sixth is attached to the new Week 5 mailbox letter. Check your storage for those five older cogs if the recipe says you’re short, then craft the wheel from the quest recipes.
Keep the finished Lucky Wheel on you. Enter the Strange Mirror in Scrooge’s Store and find Oogie Boogie beside his old wheel. Give him the replacement to open four games. Each completed activity produces a separate tile, and the Let the Games Begin quest won’t advance to the shovel puzzle until you have collected all four.
Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest: finish all four games
| Game | Action | Tile location |
|---|---|---|
| Lucky Wheel | Spin five times | In the chest next to the wheel |
| Hidden Smiles | Interact with five green smiles | Inside the enclosure near the left staircase and dice |
| Lava Pond | Fish until the tile bites | Goes straight into your inventory |
| Whack-a-Pumpkin | Smash ten pumpkins with the pickaxe | Beside the lever at the game entrance |
Start with the Genuinely Lucky Wheel and interact five times. The fifth completed spin gives the tile reward in a chest next to the wheel. Open that chest instead of moving on when the game objective ticks off. This is the quickest activity in the Let the Games Begin quest.
Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest: five Hidden Smiles locations
The Hidden Smiles are small glowing green grins on props inside the Mirror Lair. Clear each by interacting with it. The two around Oogie Boogie’s wheel are easy to miss if you’re looking only at the floor, and the clock can blend into the darker decoration.
| No. | Location |
|---|---|
| 1 | Large dice beside Oogie Boogie’s wheel at the top of the left staircase |
| 2 | Skeleton in the fenced-in area immediately behind those dice |
| 3 | Inside wall of the Whack-a-Pumpkin enclosure on the upper level |
| 4 | Wall near the skeleton display beside the top of the right staircase, near the tile game |
| 5 | Nightmare clock tucked behind the tile game in the far-right part of the upper level |
After finding all five smiles, return to the small fenced area beside the dice, at the top of the left staircase. Pick up the reward tile from the ground inside. If the counter says 5/5 but the final game won’t start, check this enclosure before searching elsewhere.
Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest: Lava Pond and ten pumpkins
The Lava Pond is in the middle of the lair’s lower floor. Equip the Royal Fishing Rod and cast into the bubbling fishing spots until you catch the third Oogie Boogie Tile. This one is placed directly in your inventory, so you won’t have to search for a chest after the catch.
For Whack-a-Pumpkin, climb to the game area on the upper floor and pull the lever outside the entrance. Equip your Royal Pickaxe and smash ten pumpkins. You can repeat the minigame for more pumpkins if required. After the tenth, collect the tile from the floor near the lever; it isn’t added automatically. You should now have four tiles for the final section of the Let the Games Begin quest.
Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest: Jack’s shovel puzzle

Go to the Tile Mini-Game Station on the upper floor, near the right staircase and Whack-a-Pumpkin area. Interact with it and insert the four Oogie Boogie Tiles. Equip your Royal Shovel. Dig on the puzzle squares to cycle their artwork until the four sections form one uninterrupted portrait.
For the Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest tile puzzle, the solution is Jack Skellington on a blue background. Dig each square with the Royal Shovel until his face and the blue backdrop connect across all four pieces. The picture of Oogie Boogie on green, and squares showing bugs, are different tile states.
Finish the Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest and escape
When the picture is completed, cracks form in the Mirror Lair. Speak to Oogie Boogie once more, then head to the Strange Mirror and leave for Scrooge’s Store. The Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest ends with the Lucky Wheel furniture item. Oogie Boogie is not yet a permanent villager: that reward comes after the final quest, Oogie Boogie’s Big Game, opening October 28.
Our Oogie Boogie unlock guide explains the full six-quest chain and permanent-character reward. You can also check the quest schedule if you’re completing the weekly tasks late.
Dreamlight Valley Let the Games Begin quest: missing quest fixes
If the Let the Games Begin quest doesn’t appear after opening the mailbox letter, confirm that Rescue Mission is complete and the attachment has been claimed. For the wheel recipe, count five cogs from The Ghost in the Portrait plus the new mailed cog. Players have also reported that the completed wheel isn’t accepted when they speak to Oogie Boogie.
A full restart has helped at least one player whose wheel handover wouldn’t register, but it hasn’t fixed every missing-Journal report. Moving cogs out of storage doesn’t reliably trigger a missing quest either. Keep your quest items, note the step where you got stuck and contact Gameloft support if the problem remains after restarting.
