Tales of Eternia Remastered Day One Patch is version 2.0.0, released alongside the game’s October 16 launch across Switch 2, Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. The update adds a Japanese Font Style option, lets Titles carry into later playthroughs and fixes several text issues.
The download size varies dramatically by platform. Switch needs only around 300 MB, while Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Steam list multi-gigabyte downloads because Bandai Namco says those figures include the main game data as well as the update.
Tales of Eternia Remastered Day One Patch sizes

| Platform | Version | Approximate update/download size |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch 2 | 2.0.0 | 7 GB |
| Nintendo Switch | 2.0.0 | 300 MB |
| PlayStation 5 | 2.0.0 | 500 MB |
| PlayStation 4 | 2.0.0 | 1.3 GB |
| Xbox Series X|S | 2.0.0 | 8 GB |
| Steam | 2.0.0 | 7 GB |
Bandai Namco notes that the Tales of Eternia Remastered Day One Patch figures for Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Steam include the main game. They should not be read as seven or eight gigabytes of extra patch data sitting on top of a separate full install.
What changes in version 2.0.0?
The Tales of Eternia Remastered Day One Patch is a small feature update rather than a major gameplay rebalance. Its three announced changes are a new Font Style option, an extra New Game+ carryover category and corrections to some in-game text.
| Version 2.0.0 change | What it does |
|---|---|
| Font Style | Adds a selectable font option when the game language is Japanese |
| Titles carryover | Titles can now carry into the second playthrough and beyond |
| Text fixes | Corrects bugs affecting some text |
How the new Font Style option works
Version 2.0.0 adds Font Style under Menu → Custom. Bandai Namco says the option is only available when Tales of Eternia Remastered is being played in Japanese.
You can change the setting at any time, although some text is excluded from the font swap. If you are playing in English or another supported language, the Tales of Eternia Remastered Day One Patch does not add an equivalent font selector for that language.
Titles now carry into New Game+
The most useful progression change in the Tales of Eternia Remastered Day One Patch is the addition of Titles to the carryover elements for the second playthrough and beyond.
After finishing the story and starting another run, the titles you earned can now carry forward instead of being left behind with the first playthrough. Bandai Namco specifically names Titles as the new carryover addition in version 2.0.0.
Do you need the day-one patch to play?
Bandai Namco recommends applying the latest update before playing and confirms that an internet connection is required to download the Tales of Eternia Remastered Day One Patch. The official notice does not describe version 2.0.0 as an online-only requirement for the game after installation.
If your console is offline at first launch, check the game’s version before starting a longer save. Version 2.0.0 is the launch-day build Bandai Namco identifies as the latest version, so installing it first ensures the carryover and text fixes are present from the start.
Why is the Switch 2 or Xbox download so large?
The large 7 GB Switch 2, 8 GB Xbox Series X|S and 7 GB Steam figures can look like enormous patch sizes, but Bandai Namco adds an important note: those storage requirements include the main game.
The smaller Switch, PS5 and PS4 numbers more closely resemble a conventional update download. For the other platforms, the Tales of Eternia Remastered Day One Patch listing is effectively reporting the combined launch package rather than only the changed files.
Steam release and version 2.0.0
Steam launches with version 2.0.0 as well. Bandai Namco’s regional notices distinguish the PC release timing from the console rollout, but the final Tales of Eternia Remastered Day One Patch version number is the same across every supported platform.
If Steam downloads around 7 GB at launch, that figure includes the main game according to Bandai Namco. It is not evidence that PC received a separate seven-gigabyte hotfix after installation.
Does the patch add the new remaster features?
The remaster’s larger quality-of-life package — encounter controls, Boost, destination icons, high-speed auto-battle, Battle Retry, Quick Recovery, original/remastered graphics and audio modes, Extreme difficulty and unlockable Unknown difficulty — is part of the remastered game itself.
The Tales of Eternia Remastered Day One Patch adds the smaller version 2.0.0 changes listed above. Our Tales of Eternia Remastered new features guide covers the full remaster package without mixing those built-in features into the patch notes.
