Madden NFL Mobile Ghostly Gary is the upgradeable Halloween player at the centre of the 2026 Most Feared event. You start with his Uncommon version and raise his OVR, rarity and team boosts through Ghostly Groove until he reaches Mythic.
To upgrade Ghostly Gary, you need Ectoplasm. Brewing Blitz, the Gridiron Greenhouse maze, event Achievements, challenges and player trades all contribute. You can also exchange regenerating Spectral Essence for more. As Gary improves, he boosts other Most Feared players in your lineup.
How to unlock Madden NFL Mobile Ghostly Gary
Madden NFL Mobile Ghostly Gary is developed through the Ghostly Groove map inside Most Feared. EA describes the event objective as completing challenges and collecting rewards that raise Gary from his starting Uncommon rarity all the way to Mythic.
Open Ghostly Groove and use the meter on the left side of the map to track your Ectoplasm progress. The Achievement panel sits on the right, so the same screen shows both your upgrade currency and the objectives that feed the wider Gary progression.
How to get Ectoplasm for Ghostly Gary
You can earn Ectoplasm for Madden NFL Mobile Ghostly Gary from several parts of the event. The fixed reward totals below are useful for planning your remaining upgrades before November 3.

If you’re still short, claim the available Spectral Pools, collect your Spectral Essence before it reaches the cap, and work through the Ghostly Groove Achievements. The separate seven cosmetic brews don’t contribute Ectoplasm.

Every Achievement awards 3,125 Ectoplasm plus an Uncommon+ Most Feared player. Completing all four earns 12,500 Ectoplasm and unlocks the Ghostly Groove boss challenge. Win that battle for another 13,500 Ectoplasm and the Gridiron Greenhouse Stadium. The maze has a different final boss, so don’t confuse their rewards.
How Ghostly Gary upgrades from Uncommon to Mythic
As you fill the Ghostly Groove Ectoplasm meter, you unlock stronger versions of Madden NFL Mobile Ghostly Gary. He starts as an 84 OVR Uncommon player and progresses through 21 upgrades to the 130 OVR Mythic version, with boosts to other Most Feared cards improving along the way.
The full Madden NFL Mobile Ghostly Gary upgrade path has 21 stages, starting at 84 OVR Uncommon and reaching 130 OVR Mythic. Community calculations put the cumulative requirement at 740,250 Ectoplasm. Use the in-game Ghostly Groove meter to see how much more you need for your next upgrade.
What boosts does Ghostly Gary give?
Gary’s upgrades increase his own OVR and improve the boosts given to other Most Feared players, including Uncommon and Rare cards. That makes Madden NFL Mobile Ghostly Gary useful even before you’ve completed the entire Mythic track.
Check the Ghostly Groove meter for your next upgrade cost rather than assuming a single brew or boss reward completes a rarity. The total Ectoplasm required across all 21 stages is 740,250, based on the documented upgrade track, so plan for several sources rather than depending on recipes alone.
How Botanical Brews help the Gary farm
Brewing Blitz has 38 original Ectoplasm recipes, each awarding 1,715 Ectoplasm. Completing all 38 earns 65,170 Ectoplasm for Madden NFL Mobile Ghostly Gary. Seven additional brews were added October 22, taking the total to 45, but the bonus recipes reward cosmetics only and do not provide Ectoplasm.

Can Spectral Essence be turned into Ectoplasm?
Yes. In Ghostly Groove, you can exchange one Spectral Essence for one Ectoplasm. Spectral Essence regenerates once every 50 seconds, up to a cap of 600. Collect and exchange it before that cap stops further regeneration. It’s a recurring way to earn Ectoplasm for Madden NFL Mobile Ghostly Gary without spending more Event Stamina.
The Greenhouse also offers 30 Spectral Pools worth 540 Ectoplasm each, or 16,200 if you collect them all. Madden NFL Mobile Ghostly Gary: Halloween Surge and expiry
EA has announced a free +75 Affinity boost across all four factions on October 31, 2026 as part of Halloween Surge. That’s enough to reach the three announced milestone tiers if your score isn’t already above them. The separate Halloween Night event gives a Rare Most Feared player and a uniform. Most Feared ends on November 3 at 10:30 a.m. ET.
