The well puzzle is part of the October 14–31 Trick or Treat event, but it’s easy to confuse it with the Haunted Floating Festival’s separate puzzles. This walkthrough covers the right chest, the candy you need and what happens when the offering is accepted.
Find the Plaza chest and memory
The Disney Dreamlight Valley Haunted Well Puzzle begins with a special red reward chest in the Plaza during the October 14–31 Halloween event. You need the Forest of Valor unlocked for this activity to appear. Open the chest, collect the pink Memory Shard dropped nearby and inspect the memory picture. It’s a candy-counting clue, not a new quest with a long list of objectives. If you only opened the chest but didn’t pick up the shard, return to where it fell and look for the glowing memory on the ground.
Go to the Forest of Valor well
Head out of the Plaza and enter the Forest of Valor. The candy offering belongs at the special event well in the Forest, not the Plaza’s normal Wishing Well and not the Haunted Floating Festival’s puzzle island. The Disney Dreamlight Valley Haunted Well Puzzle is completed in your usual Valley, so you don’t need to take the festival portal. Approach the well with the three colours of event candy in your inventory and use its interaction to deposit the offering.
The exact Halloween candy solution
For the Disney Dreamlight Valley Haunted Well Puzzle, the answer is 15 Green Candy, 10 Red Candy and 5 Purple Candy. That’s thirty sweets in total, but the colours aren’t interchangeable. The memory shows the quantities as a visual riddle; you don’t need to solve a different equation for each player. Deposit the three requested types in those amounts. When the offering is accepted, the event well disappears and you receive the Haunted Well furnishing for your collection.
How to collect the candy quickly
The six participating homes belong to Mickey Mouse, WALL-E, Daisy Duck, Stitch, Mike Wazowski and Jack Skellington. Each lit jack-o’-lantern can be used once per day and awards five candies of each colour. Visiting three houses gives fifteen of every colour, which is enough for the Disney Dreamlight Valley Haunted Well Puzzle: spend all fifteen green, ten red and five purple and keep the remaining sweets. You can also find red, green and purple candy bowls in the Plaza. Each bowl gives two pieces and six bowls spawn every twenty-four hours before October 31.
Follow the steps in order
First unlock the Forest of Valor if you haven’t already. Second, locate the red Halloween chest in the Plaza and collect its pink Memory Shard. Third, gather at least 15 Green Candy, 10 Red Candy and 5 Purple Candy from the houses or Plaza bowls. Fourth, travel to the Forest and find the event’s Haunted Well. Finally, place the correct quantities into the well and collect the furniture reward. The Disney Dreamlight Valley Haunted Well Puzzle doesn’t require completing Oogie Boogie’s Halloween Invasion storyline or the mansion basement puzzle first.
How to recognise the memory clue
Look at the memory after collecting the shard rather than simply reading your Dreamlight Duties. It shows the candy arrangement that leads to the three quantities in the answer. The Disney Dreamlight Valley Haunted Well Puzzle has one fixed colour combination; it doesn’t change with the daily candy-bowl rotation. If you’ve been keeping the sweets in a storage chest, move the needed candy to your personal inventory before interacting.
What happens after the offering
Once the well accepts the candy, the special puzzle well disappears and the Haunted Well furniture item is awarded. This is a decorative object that you can place through Furniture Mode, not an extra fast-travel well for another biome. The Disney Dreamlight Valley Haunted Well Puzzle originally appeared in an earlier Halloween season and returns in 2026. If you earned the item previously, look through your furniture collection before expecting a second copy from the returning activity.
If the chest, well or interaction is missing
Check that you’re playing during October 14–31 and that the Forest of Valor is unlocked. Search the regular Plaza for the red seasonal chest and pick up the shard it drops; the memory is the introduction to this activity. If you reach the Forest with the wrong sweets, the quantities won’t match. You need candy named Green Candy, Red Candy and Purple Candy, not a normal cooked Candy recipe.
