Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement hides an extra furniture reward beneath the Haunted Mansion during the 2026 Haunted Floating Festival. You can see the basement door outside, but its key is hidden inside the mansion’s locked bedroom. It isn’t in a red chest or lying on a desk. You need to break a particular lion statue with your Royal Pickaxe to get it.
The new Haunted Mansion puzzles opened on 7 October, and this small secret can easily be missed while you’re busy chasing the ghostly fox, replacing library books or solving the combination wall. Once you know which statue to look for, there’s only a short walk between you and the reward chest in the basement.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement: where to find the hidden key
The Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement key is the Eerie Basement Door Key. Find it in the bedroom at the end of the Haunted Mansion hallway, inside the marble lion statue positioned to the right of the magical bookstand. The statue has a golden key in its mouth. Use your Royal Pickaxe to break it, then collect the key from the floor.
There are other breakable lion statues in the mansion, so make sure you’re in the correct room. A lion in the hallway drops the Red Festival Key used for a candle chest, which is a different item. The Eerie Basement Door Key comes from the bedroom lion next to the bookstand, not the hallway.

How to unlock the bedroom for Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement
Enter the Haunted Floating Festival from the Plaza portal or the Teleport option under the Event tab. On the island, walk into the Haunted Mansion and follow the main hallway. The bedroom at its far end is locked when you first arrive, and you need the Repaired Haunted Key before you can search it.
Find one Haunted Key Fragment by chasing the ghostly fox through the mansion, then get the second fragment by lighting four Jack-o’-Lanterns with Jack-o’-Candles found in two red chests. Craft the Repaired Haunted Key using those fragments at the mansion’s crafting station, in the Event recipe section. Open the bedroom door with the repaired key.
If you haven’t finished those puzzles, see our Disney Dreamlight Valley Haunted Key walkthrough. Once the bedroom is open, you can collect the Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement key. The library books and the separate curse combination are other challenges around the same room, rather than the hiding place for the basement key.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement: complete walkthrough

- Reach the Haunted Mansion bedroom. Enter the festival island and use the Repaired Haunted Key on the door at the back of the hallway.
- Find the bookstand. Inside the bedroom, locate the magical book or Grimoire on its stand.
- Look to the right. A marble lion statue holds a golden key in its mouth beside the bookstand.
- Use your Royal Pickaxe. Break that lion and pick up the Eerie Basement Door Key that falls nearby.
- Leave the mansion. Go back through the hallway and out the front door, then follow the building’s outer wall to the basement entrance on the right-hand side of the mansion.
- Unlock the exterior basement door. Interact with the door while carrying the key, then enter the newly opened room.
- Claim the reward. Walk a little way into the basement, open the red chest and collect the Haunted Floating Festival pouch. Open the pouch to add the Eerie Basement Door furniture item to your collection.
There’s no additional code, lever or book puzzle inside the Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement room. The reward is in the red chest just ahead of you. If you’ve entered the basement but can’t see the furniture item in your collection, check whether you opened the pouch as well as the chest.
Where is the Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement entrance?
The Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement entrance is outside the Haunted Mansion, not through another door inside the bedroom. After collecting the key, leave by the main entrance and walk around the house until you reach the separate basement doorway on its right side. Look along the mansion wall rather than searching the other buildings on the event island.
Approach the basement door and interact with it. The Eerie Basement Door Key opens it, allowing you to enter a small room with a red reward chest. This key is a quest item, not a furniture key for your normal Valley buildings, so there’s no reason to carry it back home before using it.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement reward explained
Completing the Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement gives you the Eerie Basement Door furniture piece. It resembles the door you just used to enter the basement and can be placed as a decoration through your Furniture menu. The reward comes from the Haunted Floating Festival pouch found in the basement chest.
It’s a separate reward from the Chomping Chest earned in the Haunted Library and the Decorative Magic Seal earned from Release the Curse. Those activities take place around the bedroom as well, but opening the basement has its own key and chest. You can collect this furniture during the current festival without waiting for the final Ghost Hunt to begin.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement key missing or door locked?
If the Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement key hasn’t appeared, check that you reached the bedroom rather than the hallway. Break the lion with the golden key in its mouth on the right of the bookstand. If it’s already broken, look at the floor around where the statue stood and check your inventory for the Eerie Basement Door Key.
If the basement door still won’t open, return to the mansion and confirm you didn’t collect the Red Festival Key instead. That key opens one of the candle chests in the storage room and won’t work outside. The correct item has the word Basement in its name.
The Disney Dreamlight Valley Secret Basement was available when the Haunted Mansion puzzles opened on 7 October 2026. Gameloft confirms the Haunted Floating Festival ends on 31 October, while the separate Ghost Hunt unlocks on 18 October. The basement is already accessible, so you can claim its reward before that final challenge arrives.
