Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan: How to Reach the Snowy Region in Dark Arisen

Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen Norgan official snowy fortress artwork

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan is the snowy northern region added by Dark Arisen, but you won’t reach it by walking to the edge of the base game’s map. You begin in Vernworth with Captain Brant, follow a new quest called Chilling Tidings, and eventually find a wounded Griffin beside a waterfall in Malachite Forest.

The confusing part is that the quest sends you towards Melve. That marker can leave you facing a river with no obvious crossing, while the person you’re looking for is actually accessible from the forest on the other side. Here’s the full route, including the required conversations and what happens after you arrive.

How to reach Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan in Dark Arisen

Before leaving, install the expansion and load a save that has reached Vernworth. Capcom recommends about level 40 for Forsaken Dominion, which is the northern story, although it isn’t a hard requirement. You can enter at a lower level, but your first encounters in the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan area may be punishing if your party is under-equipped.

  1. Visit The Stardrop Inn in Vernworth at night and speak with Captain Brant.
  2. Select “About the new Arisen…” to begin Chilling Tidings. The other expansion dialogue about uncovered ruins begins Lost Rites instead.
  3. Rest at Shakir’s Inn and return to Brant after the story sequence.
  4. Investigate the soldiers in western Vernworth who describe a creature falling near Melve.
  5. Head through Malachite Forest and find the waterfall clearing with the fallen Griffin.
  6. Speak with Pekdre beside the creature and choose the dialogue confirming that you’re ready to travel.
  7. Continue the opening events in the northern region until you reach Norgandian Settlement.

Don’t confuse this with an ordinary fast-travel destination: the first trip is a scripted story event. Our Dark Arisen starting guide explains the DLC installation, Brant’s two dialogue options and why the Lost Rites dungeons can be started separately.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan: Fallen Griffin location near Melve

The fallen monster is southwest of Melve, but you should approach through Malachite Forest. Heading directly from Melve can put you on the wrong riverbank. From Vernworth, travel towards Trevo Mine and cross into the forest, then follow the accessible paths along its eastern side towards the waterfall.

Look for a broad clearing, an enormous fallen Griffin and a man standing beside it. The target is at the eastern edge of the woods. A map marker may appear close when viewed from Melve, but there is no need to swim across or climb down a cliff to reach it. For Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan, the forest-side route is the one to follow.

An oxcart towards Checkpoint Rest Town can shorten part of the journey if you get off near the Arboreal Walkway and complete the remaining stretch on foot. Watch for monsters along the woodland roads. It is far better to arrive at the waterfall with your Pawns healthy than to sprint blindly towards the marker.

How to speak to Pekdre and enter Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan

At the fallen Griffin, find Pekdre and begin the conversation. He warns you about the dangers of Norgan. Keep speaking to him and confirm that you’re ready to go. The resulting sequence carries your Arisen and Pawns into the frozen region, which completes the travel portion of Chilling Tidings.

Your arrival isn’t a gentle sightseeing tour. Hostile Beorcans attack near the first route through Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan, and these enemies are considerably stronger than the usual early-game encounters. Follow the new quest’s direction towards the settlement rather than wasting every curative on an unnecessary fight.

What to do at the Norgandian Settlement

The settlement is your first proper foothold in Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan. Once the opening sequence finishes, speak with the residents and follow the introductions to the characters involved in Forsaken Dominion. The main story concerns Eir and the mysterious Fallen Dragon, whose unnatural condition is at the centre of the northern investigation.

You’ll also meet Jiera, who appraises unidentified relics gathered during expeditions. These can become usable weapons and armour after appraisal, making the settlement useful for upgrading your party before difficult encounters. Our relic appraisal guide explains how those items work and where the Rift Crystal cost comes in.

Recommended level for Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan

Capcom recommends level 40 for Forsaken Dominion. You don’t have to reach it to unlock the conversation with Brant, but the enemies will punish weak equipment and incomplete Pawn setups. If the first encounters feel impossible, go back to strengthen your party before advancing deeper into the region.

The other expansion path, Lost Rites, has a lower recommended starting level of 20. Its twelve dungeons are located in the original game world and begin through Brant’s “About the uncovered ruins…” option. If you’re not ready for the northern story, those challenges offer another way to explore new Dark Arisen content.

Why is Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan not unlocking?

If Brant has no Dark Arisen dialogue, confirm that the expansion is installed, your game is up to date and you’ve reached Vernworth. Brant is at the Stardrop Inn after dark. The new option does not appear just because you’ve purchased the DLC while your character is still too early in the main story.

Players who are already in the Unmoored World may need to enter New Game+ before Brant’s new conversation becomes accessible. Be careful: starting a new cycle resets story and quest progress. Don’t overwrite an important save in an attempt to fix the quest without understanding that change.

If Chilling Tidings is active but the map seems to send you into a dead end near Melve, return to the western route through Malachite Forest. The waterfall and Pekdre are the objectives you need. Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan won’t open by exploring the riverbank on the wrong side.

Is Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan the same as Lost Rites?

No. Norgan is the new snowy region and the setting for Forsaken Dominion. Lost Rites is a separate series of twelve dungeon challenges in the original world. They are both part of Dark Arisen, but they have different starting dialogues, difficulty recommendations and rewards.

That also means you don’t need to finish Lost Rites before travelling north. If you have reached Vernworth and have suitable gear, follow Chilling Tidings immediately. The Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan questline is available early, even though the dangers in the region are intended for an experienced party.

Once you have found Pekdre by the waterfall and finished the opening journey, Dragon’s Dogma 2 Norgan becomes a new base for tougher adventures. Spend a little time around Norgandian Settlement, look after your Pawns and make use of relic appraisal before chasing the Fallen Dragon into the mountains.
