The Pokémon Pokopia Sweet Surprises event ends at 4:59 a.m. local time on Sunday 1 November 2026. Saturday is the last full day to collect Pumpkin Candy, buy Halloween furniture and befriend Gourgeist.
To get started, talk to Pumpkaboo near a rebuilt Pokémon Center. You can then disguise Ditto as objects other Pokémon like, surprise them and trade the candy you earn for event decorations. Several of those items are also needed to attract Gourgeist.
When does the Pokémon Pokopia Sweet Surprises event end?
The event opened at 5:00 a.m. on 17 October and finishes at 4:59 a.m. on 1 November, according to your local time. For UK players, the deadline is 4:59 a.m. GMT. Don’t plan to finish exchanging candy on Sunday afternoon.
What do you need to join the event?
Nintendo lists the following requirements. Check these before searching for Pumpkaboo:
- Update to Pokémon Pokopia Ver. 2.0.1 using the Switch 2 HOME Menu.
- Complete a town’s Important Request.
- Rebuild that town’s Pokémon Center.
- Learn Camouflage from Zorua in Bleak Beach.
- Set the console clock to the actual current local date and time.
- Connect to the internet the first time you start the event.
If you’ve only just completed those steps, move to another town once or choose Save & Quit before checking the Center again. The Pokémon Pokopia Sweet Surprises event cannot run on Cloud Islands or in Bubbly Basin.
Pokémon Pokopia Sweet Surprises event: earning Pumpkin Candy
Speak to Pumpkaboo near your rebuilt Center and complete its request. Then pick an object that a nearby Pokémon likes, use Camouflage to turn Ditto into it and wait. When that Pokémon comes closer, reveal Ditto to surprise it and receive Pumpkin Candy.
Repeat the tricks until you’ve earned enough for the items you want. Bring your candy back to the Pokémon Center to shop. Our Pumpkin Candy guide covers the process in more detail.

The Pokémon Pokopia Sweet Surprises event shop has nine decorations, listed below with the prices recorded in the existing in-game exchange coverage. You’ll need 20 Pumpkin Candy to buy one of everything.

If you’re short on time, you don’t have to empty the shop to befriend Gourgeist. Its three habitat pieces cost only six candy. Buy those first if welcoming both event Pokémon matters more than collecting every decoration.
Pokémon Pokopia Sweet Surprises event habitat recipes
Pumpkaboo: the optional Give me something good to eat habitat uses any table, a Candy bucket and a Ghost smoke projector. The two seasonal pieces cost five candy. You can befriend Pumpkaboo by speaking to it near the Center without building this habitat.
Gourgeist: the Creepy pumpkins habitat uses a Trevenant Streetlight, Pumpkin lantern and Pumpkin lantern tower, each costing two candy. Put the tower on top of the lantern with the streetlight nearby. Once the habitat registers and Gourgeist arrives, befriend it before the event ends.
Both habitats together cost eleven candy if you already own a table, or twelve if you buy a Huge table as well. The Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist guides cover their arrangements individually.
How do you get the Trick or Treat photo frame?
The Trick or Treat frame is another reward associated with the event exchange. Keep track of your purchases and check your progress with Pumpkaboo if you’re collecting it as well as the furniture. Prioritise the habitat pieces before spending your final candy on extra decorations.
What if Pumpkaboo isn’t appearing?
Check the game version, Important Request, rebuilt Center, Camouflage, console clock and first-time internet connection. You won’t find the event on Cloud Islands or in Bubbly Basin. In Palette Town Link Play, speak to Pumpkaboo before starting multiplayer; Spectator Mode isn’t supported.
If you met the requirements while already in town, Nintendo suggests travelling to another town or using Save & Quit. That refresh step is worth trying before you go looking for a problem with your installation.
What stays after the Pokémon Pokopia Sweet Surprises event?
Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist remain in your town if you befriended them before the cutoff. The Halloween event itself is temporary, but the Pokémon you’ve already welcomed aren’t.
Before the Pokémon Pokopia Sweet Surprises event finishes, make sure you’ve bought the furniture you want and befriended Gourgeist. The safest shopping order is Gourgeist’s six-candy habitat first, then any optional Pumpkaboo pieces and other decorations.
