Pokémon Pokopia Pumpkaboo is now available through Sweet Surprises, which began October 17, 2026, at 5 AM local time. You’ll need Pokémon Pokopia version 2.0.1, a rebuilt Pokémon Center, the important town request completed and Camouflage learned from Zorua at Bleak Beach to begin.
Once you’ve met those requirements, look for Pumpkaboo near your rebuilt Pokémon Center and complete its request to befriend it. If it hasn’t appeared, check your Switch 2 clock and internet connection, then use Save & Quit or visit another town. The Halloween event finishes at 4:59 a.m. local time on Sunday 1 November.
Pokémon Pokopia Pumpkaboo: how to start before the deadline
Look near the Pokémon Center you’ve rebuilt. Pumpkaboo appears there during Sweet Surprises, so you don’t need to search wild habitats or wait for a normal town visitor. Talk to it and complete its request before moving on to the furniture shop.
If Pumpkaboo isn’t appearing, Nintendo recommends setting the Switch 2 to the actual local date, connecting to the internet and, if you’ve just met the requirements, travelling to another town or using Save & Quit. The event doesn’t take place in Cloud Islands or Bubbly Basin. In Palette Town Link Play, talk to Pumpkaboo before entering multiplayer. Nintendo’s official instructions explain the requirements.
Pumpkaboo habitat: Give me something good to eat recipe
The Give me something good to eat habitat attracts Pumpkaboo. Place one table of any kind, one Candy bucket and one Ghost smoke projector together. Place the Candy bucket on your table and the Ghost smoke projector beside it. The Candy bucket costs 2 Pumpkin Candy and the Ghost smoke projector costs 3, so the two event items cost 5 Pumpkin Candy plus a table you already own or obtain separately. This is an additional habitat option alongside Pumpkaboo’s event quest.
Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist have different habitat recipes. Our Gourgeist guide covers the separate Creepy pumpkins arrangement, which uses a Trevenant Streetlight and two pumpkin lantern items.
How to get Pokémon Pokopia Pumpkaboo
The Pokémon Pokopia Pumpkaboo unlock starts with the event request near your rebuilt Pokémon Center. Its furniture habitat is optional and doesn’t need to be finished before you befriend Pumpkaboo.

- Join Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises before November 1 at 4:59 a.m. local time.
- Use a town where the Pokémon Center has already been rebuilt.
- Find Pumpkaboo waiting near the Pokémon Center and talk to it.
- Accept Pumpkaboo’s request and complete the request objective.
- Return to Pumpkaboo if needed to finish the interaction and add it as a friend in your town.
Once you’ve completed the request, use Camouflage to earn Pumpkin Candy. Save your first candy for decorations you actually want, especially the pieces that attract Gourgeist.

Pokémon Pokopia Pumpkaboo event dates and requirements
| Event | Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises |
| Starts | October 17, 2026 at 5:00 a.m. local time |
| Ends | November 1, 2026 at 4:59 a.m. local time |
| Main requirement | A rebuilt Pokémon Center |
| Useful move | Camouflage from Zorua at Bleak Beach |
| Main event item | Pumpkin Candy |
For Pokémon Pokopia Pumpkaboo, the important deadline is November 1 at 4:59 a.m. local time. Pokémon says Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist that you befriend during the event remain in town afterwards, so the limited part is gaining access to the event route rather than keeping the Pokémon once it has joined you.
Pokémon Pokopia Pumpkaboo and Camouflage tricks
Camouflage is the move used for the candy-collecting part of the event. Ditto learns it from Zorua at Bleak Beach. If you haven’t completed Zorua’s request yet, head to Bleak Beach before trying the candy activity so Ditto has Camouflage.
Befriend Pumpkaboo first, then use Camouflage to earn Pumpkin Candy. To earn candy, use Camouflage to turn into suitable furniture or objects, wait for another Pokémon to approach, and surprise it. Successful tricks award Pumpkin Candy that can be exchanged at the Pokémon Center for midnight festival furniture and decorations.
Does Pokémon Pokopia Pumpkaboo stay after the event?
Once Pokémon Pokopia Pumpkaboo has joined your town, it stays after 1 November. The deadline is for taking part in the event, not for keeping your new resident.
Gourgeist has its own event habitat. You attract it using furniture bought with Pumpkin Candy, rather than trading or levelling Pumpkaboo as in a traditional Pokémon RPG.
