Pokémon Pokopia Gourgeist is added through Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises, but its unlock is different from Pumpkaboo itself. Gourgeist is not obtained by evolving a Pumpkaboo in the usual Pokémon way. Instead, you collect Pumpkin Candy during the event, exchange it for seasonal furniture, and use the event items to create a habitat that attracts Gourgeist.
The event is live until Sunday 1 November 2026 at 4:59 a.m. local time. You must finish the habitat and befriend Gourgeist before that early-morning deadline. Start by rebuilding a Pokémon Center and learning Camouflage from Zorua at Bleak Beach, which is needed for the candy activity.
Pokémon Pokopia Gourgeist habitat and six-candy requirements
The Creepy pumpkins habitat attracts Gourgeist. Buy one Trevenant Streetlight, one Pumpkin lantern and one Pumpkin lantern tower at the event exchange. Each costs two Pumpkin Candy, so the full set is six candy.
Once you’ve bought all three items, place the Pumpkin lantern on the ground, set the Pumpkin lantern tower on top of it and position the Trevenant Streetlight alongside. Keep the arrangement together so the habitat can register, then look for Gourgeist to arrive.

How to get Pokémon Pokopia Gourgeist
To get Pokémon Pokopia Gourgeist, start by talking to Pumpkaboo near a rebuilt Pokémon Center. Use Camouflage to earn the candy and buy the three items listed above. The final step is building the habitat and befriending Gourgeist when it arrives.
- Start Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises before its 1 November 4:59 a.m. local deadline.
- Talk to Pumpkaboo near a rebuilt Pokémon Center and complete its request.
- Use Camouflage to disguise Ditto as furniture or another suitable object.
- Surprise approaching Pokémon to receive Pumpkin Candy.
- Exchange Pumpkin Candy at the Pokémon Center for the event furniture and decorations.
- Use the exchanged event items to build the habitat that appeals to Gourgeist.
- Check the completed habitat and befriend Gourgeist when it visits.
If the habitat isn’t recognised, check that you have the lantern tower stacked above the lantern rather than standing separately, with the streetlight close by. You don’t need several copies of each item. The recipe uses one of each.
Pokémon Pokopia Gourgeist is not a normal Pumpkaboo evolution
In the main Pokémon RPGs, Gourgeist evolves from Pumpkaboo through trading. Pokopia works differently. Its residents are generally obtained through requests, habitats and special event methods rather than traditional level or trade evolution. For this event, Pokémon explicitly points players toward a habitat made with the new seasonal items.
Searching for a trade partner will not unlock Pokémon Pokopia Gourgeist. Your actual progression is tied to Pumpkin Candy and the event furniture. Befriend Pumpkaboo first, unlock the repeatable candy loop, then spend the candy on the pieces that the Gourgeist habitat requires.

Does Pokémon Pokopia Gourgeist stay after November 1?
Yes. Pokémon says the Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist you befriend will remain in town after the event ends. Once Pokémon Pokopia Gourgeist has joined you, you do not need to keep repeating the event just to stop it disappearing. The deadline is about completing the friendship route before the seasonal activity closes.
The important part is finishing the friendship before the 1 November, 4:59 a.m. local-time deadline. Once Pokémon Pokopia Gourgeist joins your town, it stays after the Halloween event ends.
