AION 2 Release Date: Global Launch and Advanced Access

AION 2 Release Date

AION 2 Release Date became a messy search during the handover from the Launch Scale Test to paid Advanced Access and then the free global opening. Older regional coverage, test dates and the September head start can all look like separate launches if they are read without the October 2026 global timeline.

The useful way to read the schedule now is as one continuous live service. The test build was temporary, the Founder period used the real global characters, and the public launch completed the transition into the free-to-play version that is available now.

The AION 2 Release Date for the free global version was October 5, 2026. Steam now lists the game as released and free to play, so anyone arriving after launch no longer needs a Founder’s Pack to enter the global service. Advanced Access began on September 30 and ended when the launch maintenance moved the game into commercial release.

That distinction matters because September 30 still appears in store history and older guides. It was not a separate permanent edition. Founder’s Pack owners simply received a five-day head start, and their characters were part of the same global service that continued after October 5.

What happened before the free release

Before the AION 2 Release Date, NC ran a Launch Scale Test to stress the service. Steam players were told to uninstall the Playtest app afterwards and install the actual AION 2 client. Progress from that test did not carry forward, which is why screenshots or instructions referring to the test build should not be used as proof of current progression.

Advanced Access was different. It ran from September 30 through October 4 for Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate Founder’s Pack owners. Those players were already creating live characters, choosing factions and joining the same service that opened to everyone after the scheduled October 5 maintenance.

What time did AION 2 launch globally?

The AION 2 Release Date was tied to a global server opening rather than a local midnight rollout. The scheduled launch maintenance began on October 5 at 05:00 UTC and was planned for eight hours, with commercial launch following at 13:00 UTC. In the UK that was 2:00 PM BST.

The launch time is now historical rather than a countdown. If the game is unavailable today, treat that as a current maintenance, authentication or server issue instead of waiting for the old October 5 unlock time to repeat.

Where can you play after launch?

NC’s global version is a Windows PC release distributed through Steam and PURPLE. Both clients connect to the same global service. The current AION 2 Release Date does not apply to a separate console or mobile launch, and NC’s global FAQ does not list a supported mobile client.

Steam Deck and Linux may be areas players experiment with, but NC only provides official support for Steam and PURPLE on Windows PC. That support distinction is more useful after launch than older platform speculation from before the global version was finalised.

Does Founder’s Pack progress carry over?

Yes. The characters made during Advanced Access were the real launch characters, so there was no scheduled wipe when the AION 2 Release Date arrived. The wipe applied to the earlier Launch Scale Test, not to the Founder period. That is the easiest way to separate the two phases if you played both.

Founder’s Packs are therefore no longer required simply to get into the game. Their value now comes from the items and entitlements attached to the pack rather than access to a future start date.

What should returning players check now?

  • Use the normal AION 2 client, not the retired Playtest app.
  • Choose Steam or PURPLE on Windows PC and make sure the client is fully updated.
  • Pick the correct region and faction before committing to a home server.
  • Check current NC maintenance notices if login fails, because the original launch window has already passed.
  • Use the current server list if your original launch-day choice is crowded or if friends joined elsewhere.

The AION 2 Release Date still matters for distinguishing test information from the live global rules, but it should no longer be written as an upcoming event. The game is released, the free entry point is open, and current service notices now outrank launch-day countdown advice.

For players checking an old launch guide, AION 2 Release Date is the clean dividing line between the temporary test cycle and the live global service that now exists.

AION 2 Release Date also helps explain why Founder characters survived while Launch Scale Test characters did not: only the September test was a disposable environment.
