AION 2 Server Pairing: How Elyos and Asmodian Matchups Work

AION 2 Server Pairing

AION 2 Server Pairing is the layer that connects two faction-specific home servers when Elyos and Asmodian players enter cross-faction content. It is easy to miss because the character-select screen starts with region, faction and home server, while the rival population becomes relevant later.

The system lets NC preserve separate faction communities without locking PvP to one permanent enemy population. Pairings can be changed over time, so the opposing server you meet today is not guaranteed to remain your rival forever.

With AION 2 Server Pairing, each Elyos home server can be matched with an Asmodian home server. When those players enter faction-conflict content such as the Abyss or Spacetime Rifts, the enemy population comes from the paired server.

NC’s example pairs the Asmodian server Israphel with the Elyos server Siel. In that setup, Israphel Asmodians entering the Abyss encounter Siel Elyos rather than a random mix from every server in the region.

Why factions have separate home servers

AION 2 Server Pairing starts from a structure where Elyos and Asmodians live on different home servers. That gives each faction its own local population, economy and identity before the game deliberately brings the two sides together for conflict.

It also means “what server are you on?” has two answers depending on the conversation. Your home server is permanent until you transfer, while your matched enemy server can be changed by NC.

Where the paired server matters

NC specifically names the Abyss and Spacetime Rifts when explaining AION 2 Server Pairing. Those are situations where the opposing faction population matters directly, because the system needs to know which Asmodian and Elyos groups should collide.

For ordinary character creation, you should still choose based on your own region, faction, friends and home-server community first. Picking purely because of one temporary enemy pairing can backfire when NC rotates the matchup.

Do server pairings stay the same forever?

No. NC says AION 2 Server Pairing will be updated periodically to help keep factions balanced. A current rivalry can therefore be replaced by a different opposing server later.

That flexibility is part of the design, not evidence that characters are being moved. Your home server can stay the same while the game changes which enemy server is connected to it for cross-faction content.

How to read the current server list

The official server notice publishes AION 2 Server Pairing as Elyos versus Asmodian rows. Europe has the largest set of launch pairs, while NA East, NA West, Latin America and Asia use their own regional groups.

  • Choose your region first.
  • Choose Elyos or Asmodian before the home-server name.
  • Use the paired name to understand who you are likely to meet in faction content.
  • Do not treat the pairing as permanent.
  • Recheck the official list after balance changes or major server updates.

Does pairing mean the two factions share one home server?

No. AION 2 Server Pairing does not merge the two home servers into one. Elyos and Asmodians remain attached to their own server communities, and the pairing tells the game which populations to connect in specified cross-faction spaces.

That distinction helps when coordinating guilds. Friends who want to play the same faction together should focus on the same faction home server, not on choosing opposite sides of a pairing and expecting normal shared progression.

What should you choose as a new player?

Treat AION 2 Server Pairing as useful PvP context rather than the first selection rule. Region and faction are the big decisions, then your friends or guild, then server capacity. The current enemy pairing comes after those priorities.

If you enjoy server rivalry, the system gives that identity a clear opponent without freezing it permanently. If you mainly play PvE, it is still worth knowing why faction encounters can feature a familiar rival population even though the two sides started on separate home servers.

The result is a server model that is more deliberate than simple cross-server matchmaking. AION 2 Server Pairing preserves home-server identity, creates recognisable faction opponents and gives NC room to rebalance those rivalries as populations change.

AION 2 Server Pairing can change after population reviews, which is why a long-term home-server choice should not be based only on the opponent shown in one launch-week table.

If a rivalry changes later, your guild, friends and faction community do not automatically disappear with it. The pairing controls the opposing population used by specified cross-faction activities, not the identity of your home server.

For guild planning, the home-server community is the stable part of the decision. The opposing pairing is deliberately flexible, so treat the launch table as a current matchup rather than a permanent contract.
