Rocket League Honor Duels: How Challenges and 1v1s Work

Rocket League Honor Duels let you challenge another player from your current match to a 1v1 that begins after the match you are already playing has finished. If the other player accepts, both of you are moved into the duel automatically, while the remaining players can choose to spectate.

The system arrives with Season 24 and is meant to turn the familiar post-match rivalry into an actual follow-up game instead of relying on party invites or private-match setup. Rocket League Honor Duels are also tied directly into the new Rocket Rivalry creator competition, so winning them can matter beyond settling a single score.

  1. Start or join a normal Rocket League match.
  2. Challenge another player in that match to an Honor Duel.
  3. Wait for the other player to accept the challenge.
  4. Finish the current match normally.
  5. The challenger and defender are moved into the 1v1 after the current match ends.
  6. Other players can accept the spectator invitation from the Social Menu.

The core sequence is confirmed in Psyonix’s Season 24 announcement and version 2.76 patch notes. The duel uses the same match type you were already playing, which means the feature is designed as a continuation of the lobby rather than a completely unrelated custom game.

Can other players watch an Honor Duel?

Yes. Once a Rocket League Honor Duel has been accepted, the other players from the match are invited to spectate. The patch notes specify that spectators can accept the notification through the Social Menu to watch the duel.

For Rocket League Honor Duels, keeping the original lobby together is an important part of the feature. You do not need to organise a separate spectator slot manually before the first match ends, and players who are not involved in the 1v1 can simply leave if they are not interested.

Do Honor Duels affect Ranked MMR?

Psyonix has not published a separate Rocket League Honor Duels MMR rule in the launch announcement or patch notes. The confirmed information explains how a challenge is issued, accepted and spectated, but it does not state that the follow-up duel replaces the result of the original Ranked match or creates a new Ranked ladder of its own.

Until the live client or Psyonix documentation gives a more specific rule, players should avoid assuming an Honor Duel win changes normal competitive rating in a special way. Treat the duel as its own post-match challenge and the match you just completed as the result that already counted through the normal playlist.

How Honor Duels connect to Rocket Rivalry

Season 24 also introduces Rocket League Rocket Rivalry. Eight creators have their own supporter titles, and Psyonix says players can equip the title for the creator they back and then win Honor Duels to add points to that creator’s total.

The listed creators are JZR, ApparentlyJack, Tenacity, Forky, almost, Firewall154, Twisty and Crnovy. Those accumulated points feed into a creator competition that leads toward a showmatch in London, which gives Rocket League Honor Duels a second purpose for players who want to participate in the community event.

What happens if the challenge is ignored?

Rocket League Honor Duels only move players into the follow-up duel once the challenge has been accepted. That means there is no reason to expect an ignored or declined challenge to trap anyone in a follow-up match. The current game finishes as usual unless both players have agreed to continue into the duel.

If you are deliberately farming Rocket Rivalry progress, the practical approach is to challenge players who are likely to accept instead of waiting until the very end of a session. The feature is built around mutual participation, not forcing another player into a 1v1.

When did Rocket League Honor Duels launch?

Rocket League Honor Duels launch with Season 24 on September 23, 2026 at 9 AM PT. The required game update is version 2.76, which released on September 22 ahead of the seasonal switch.
