The Butterfly Witch machine is Bayonetta’s matching vehicle in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, due with her free Year Two character update on November 3, 2026. Sega showed the machine in the reveal and grouped it with Bayonetta’s emotes and sounds.

It’s easy to mistake the themed vehicle for paid DLC because Season Pass Two also launches with new machines on November 3. But Butterfly Witch belongs to the free Bayonetta release. Here’s where it fits and what Sega has actually confirmed about getting it.

How to get Butterfly Witch

Install the November 3 Year Two update and complete Bayonetta’s unlock route through the newly added Rival Duel mode. Sega has confirmed Bayonetta is earned there, and Butterfly Witch is announced as her accompanying free machine. The company hasn’t supplied a separate vehicle challenge or said you need a premium bundle, so don’t follow advice requiring a Season Pass Two purchase or a paid shop token. The Butterfly Witch Machine is not among the Sega console vehicles included in the paid pass bonus.

When Butterfly Witch releases

November 3, 2026 is the announced start of Year Two and the release date for Bayonetta. Earlier September pages only said the Umbra Witch would arrive at some point in Year Two, but the October showcase replaced that vague window with a day. Sega hasn’t published a separate regional unlock hour for Butterfly Witch. It makes more sense to check whether the update has reached your platform than to assume a midnight release. Because the Butterfly Witch Machine accompanies Bayonetta, start with the character’s Rival Duel requirements.

Is it included in Season Pass Two?

No. The paid pass starts with Godzilla Escape and the Godzilla Cruiser, King Ghidorah Coupe and Mothra Surf machines. It also includes Sega’s console-themed vehicles, and later Evangelion, Sanrio and other franchise content. Butterfly Witch is part of Bayonetta’s free character addition. You can save your money if that’s the only vehicle you’re looking for. The Butterfly Witch Machine has been shown in Sega’s official reveal, but performance claims require live gameplay data.

Does it unlock automatically with Bayonetta?

Sega describes Butterfly Witch as part of Bayonetta’s free content package, but hasn’t yet described a separate machine unlock screen. Bayonetta herself is earned through Rival Duel, so the sensible route is to complete that challenge and then check the machine selection. Until November 3, a claimed exact win count or extra vehicle task isn’t something that has been verified. If the Butterfly Witch Machine isn’t in your collection, confirm the Bayonetta unlock and update status before spending money.

What kind of machine is Butterfly Witch?

It’s a themed vehicle inspired by Bayonetta’s witch imagery. The reveal establishes its design and connection to the character, but the published Year Two announcement doesn’t supply a complete final stat profile. That means there’s no trustworthy basis yet for calling it the fastest machine in a class or giving it a definitive competitive build. Wait for the in-game selection screen and actual handling before spending heavily on customisation.

Why is it free when the Godzilla machines are paid?

CrossWorlds supports two kinds of post-launch content simultaneously. Free character updates can bring a guest racer and matching machine, while paid collaborations bundle courses, vehicles and sometimes playable drivers. Bayonetta sits with the former. Godzilla is the first Season Pass Two pack, and its machines come through the premium route. Release dates alone don’t tell you which group an item belongs to.

How Duel Mode fits into the unlock

The new head-to-head format has you race one CPU rival or another player, depending on the chosen option. For Bayonetta, Rival Duel is the relevant offline route. Duel Boost charges throughout a race and builds faster when you use items, which means timing your attacks and boosts matters when chasing CPU wins. Ordinary Grand Prix races haven’t been announced as the way to unlock her.

What to check if it doesn’t appear

On November 3, first check for the updated Duel Mode. Then complete the required Bayonetta Rival Duel unlock and inspect both your character list and machine collection. If the racer is available but Butterfly Witch isn’t, check Sega’s official release notices for any additional activation step before reinstalling the game. There is no verified separate paid Butterfly Witch listing in Sega’s current Year Two details.

The butterfly witch machine information above comes from Sega’s October showcase, so check the difference between announced dates and later release windows before planning around any of these additions.

For butterfly witch machine, remember that free content and Season Pass Two rewards may release on the same day without sharing an unlock requirement.

When checking butterfly witch machine in the game, use the actual reward and update screens instead of assuming every preview feature is already available.

Until the November 3 release, the Butterfly Witch Machine is a confirmed free vehicle, but its precise handling and stats remain untested.
