Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition adds four headline upgrades to the original game: the new Dandori Academy mode, enhanced high-resolution visuals, voice commands for Oatchi and GameShare support for Dandori Battles. It launches on November 12, 2026 as a complete edition and as an upgrade pack for existing Pikmin 4 owners.

The core Pikmin 4 story is not being rebuilt or replaced. Nintendo describes this as a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, meaning the original Nintendo Switch game is bundled with an upgrade pack that adds features designed for Switch 2.

What is new in Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition?

The confirmed details around Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition come directly from Nintendo’s Switch 2 product information and Dandori Academy documentation. The sections below separate what is already announced from anything Nintendo has not yet specified.

Dandori Academy adds 72 challenge stages

Dandori Academy is the biggest addition in Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition. The mode turns Dandori play into an ongoing exam format where the goal is to collect treasure as efficiently and quickly as possible. Stages use different Pikmin, layouts and obstacles, and Nintendo provides three difficulty levels.

There will be 72 stages in total, but Nintendo is releasing them over time rather than on day one. Six stages are scheduled each month for 12 months. Older stages remain playable after later batches arrive, so players can go back to practice or tackle content they missed.

Oatchi can respond to voice commands

Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition uses the console microphone to let players issue nine different voice commands to Oatchi. Nintendo says commands can cover jobs such as gathering Pikmin and transporting treasure, and players can even praise Oatchi after he completes a task.

The voice system is an optional new way to direct the dog rather than a replacement for standard controls. It is one of the clearest examples of the Switch 2 Edition adding a hardware-specific feature instead of simply raising the resolution.

Sharper visuals and up to 4K TV output

Nintendo says Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition improves resolution in both handheld and TV play. The UK product page goes further and confirms enhanced resolutions up to 4K in TV mode when the console is connected to a compatible television.

The company has not presented this edition as a total graphical remake. The point is a cleaner, higher-resolution version of the existing Pikmin 4 presentation, letting the small environmental details and Pikmin appear sharper on Switch 2 hardware.

GameShare comes to Dandori Battles

Dandori Battles gain GameShare support in Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition. A second player can join locally through GameShare, and Nintendo also supports online GameShare through GameChat. The invited player does not need to own Pikmin 4 to join a shared Dandori Battle.

Online GameShare requires the relevant Nintendo online services, including a Nintendo Switch Online membership and Nintendo Account. Local GameShare is a separate option for nearby play.

How the upgrade works for existing owners

Players who already own Pikmin 4 on Nintendo Switch can buy the upgrade pack rather than rebuying the complete Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition. Nintendo supports both physical and digital ownership of the original game for this route.

The added features only work on Nintendo Switch 2. If the original Pikmin 4 game card is placed back into a Nintendo Switch, it runs the standard Nintendo Switch version without Dandori Academy and the Switch 2-specific enhancements.
