Max Spirit Pokémon GO is the healing Max Move used by Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in Max Battles. It restores HP to the user and allied Pokémon, making it one of the most useful support tools in difficult Power Spot fights where keeping the group alive can matter more than adding one more attack.
How to unlock Max Spirit Pokémon GO
To unlock Max Spirit Pokémon GO, select an eligible Max Pokémon in your storage and scroll to its Max Moves section. The offensive Max Move is available at Level 1 by default, but Max Spirit and Max Guard normally begin locked.
Tap Max Spirit and choose to train it. Unlocking the move at Level 1 costs 400 Max Particles and 50 Candy belonging to that Pokémon’s evolutionary family. Confirm the cost and the healing move will then be available whenever that Pokémon reaches its Max phase in a Max Battle.

Taking Max Spirit Pokémon GO all the way from locked to Level 3 costs 1,800 Max Particles, 150 Candy and 40 Candy XL. Training Max Moves also grants XP, but the real reason to upgrade Spirit is the stronger healing it provides in battle.
What does Max Spirit do?
Max Spirit Pokémon GO restores some HP to your Pokémon and the Pokémon fighting alongside it. That team-wide effect separates it from ordinary healing items, which are not something you stop to use during the live Max Battle.
It also gives Max teams a genuine support role. One Trainer can spend a Max action healing the group while teammates continue attacking, which can be more efficient than allowing several strong counters to faint at once.
When can you use Max Spirit?
You can only use Max Spirit Pokémon GO during the Max phase of a Max Battle. The group first fights normally and builds the Max Meter. Once the meter is filled and your Pokémon Dynamaxes or Gigantamaxes, you choose between its offensive Max Move, Max Guard or Max Spirit if those utility moves are unlocked.
Spirit is most valuable when multiple active Pokémon have taken significant damage. Using it while everyone is nearly full wastes part of its benefit, while waiting too long risks losing a Pokémon before the heal becomes available.
Is Max Spirit better than Max Guard?
They solve different problems. Max Spirit Pokémon GO restores HP across the group, while Max Guard reduces damage to the Pokémon using it. Spirit is usually the stronger team-support choice when several players need healing. Guard is better when one important Pokémon needs to survive a dangerous hit.
Hard Max Battles often reward teams that have access to both rather than treating every Max turn as an automatic attack.
Should every Pokémon unlock Max Spirit?
No. Unlocking Max Spirit Pokémon GO on every Max Pokémon would consume a huge amount of Max Particles and Candy. It is more efficient to build a few dependable support Pokémon and keep other counters focused on offensive upgrades.
Pokémon with good bulk are natural candidates because they are more likely to stay alive long enough to reach repeated Max phases. A fragile attacker may get more value from upgrading its attack instead.
Does Max Spirit work outside Max Battles?
No. Max Spirit Pokémon GO cannot be selected in standard raids, Gym battles or normal Trainer Battles. Max Pokémon can participate in other formats, but their Dynamax or Gigantamax transformation and Max Moves are limited to compatible Max Battle situations.
Can Gigantamax Pokémon use Max Spirit?
Yes. Gigantamax Pokémon can unlock Max Spirit Pokémon GO and Max Guard even though their attacking option is a special G-Max move. This makes a strong Gigantamax Pokémon flexible: it can hit hard when the team is safe, then switch a Max action to healing when the battle starts to go wrong.
Is Max Spirit worth Level 3?
For a Pokémon you regularly bring to high-difficulty Max Battles, Level 3 can be an excellent investment. The expensive part is the 40 Candy XL needed for the final upgrade. If you are unsure, unlock Max Spirit Pokémon GO at Level 1 first, use the Pokémon in real battles, then invest further only if it consistently fills an important healing role.
