Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 rewards are now live in Version 7.1, and the headline limited selector is not a simple login gift. To claim it, you need Adventure Rank 18 or higher and must complete Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act IV, A Rekviem for the Underworld, before the event closes.
The Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 reward comes from Tabletop Troupe: A Gathering on Adventure’s Eve. It lets you permanently invite one of six event-exclusive five-star characters without spending Primogems or touching your Wish pity. The pool is Tartaglia, Nilou, Baizhu, Chiori, Clorinde and Varesa, and the event also gives Ascension Level-Up Materials for the character you choose.
How the Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 selector works

The Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 limited selector appears through Tabletop Troupe after the required story progress is complete. Once the event is unlocked, open its page from the Events menu, review the six available characters and confirm the one you want to invite.
- Reach Adventure Rank 18 or higher.
- Progress through Snezhnaya’s Chapter VII Archon Quest chain.
- Complete Chapter VII: Act IV, A Rekviem for the Underworld.
- Open Tabletop Troupe: A Gathering on Adventure’s Eve.
- Select one of the six event-exclusive five-star characters.
- Claim the character and their matching Ascension Level-Up Materials.
You can only make one invitation through this event. The Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 choice is therefore worth checking carefully before you press the final confirmation button, especially if you already own one or more characters in the pool.
Which limited five-stars can you choose?
The six choices cover very different account needs. Varesa and Clorinde are Electro characters built around on-field damage, Nilou enables her specialist Bountiful Bloom teams, Baizhu brings healing and Dendro support, Chiori deals Geo damage from off field, and Tartaglia combines strong Hydro application with his melee stance.
| Character | Main role | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| Varesa | On-field Electro DPS | Accounts wanting a modern damage dealer with Plunging Attack gameplay |
| Clorinde | On-field Electro DPS | Reaction teams that can support her fast gun-and-lunge playstyle |
| Nilou | Bloom enabler | Hydro and Dendro rosters built around Bountiful Cores |
| Baizhu | Dendro support and healer | Accounts needing sustain, Dendro application and reaction support |
| Chiori | Off-field Geo DPS | Geo teams that can use her Tamoto dolls |
| Tartaglia | On-field Hydro enabler | Teams that value fast Hydro application and reaction setups |
If the choice itself is the difficult part, our Best Free 5-Star in Genshin Impact 7.1 guide breaks down who benefits most from each option. The Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 event is generous, but it is still a one-pick selector rather than six free characters.
Do you need to catch up on every old Archon Quest?
No. Returning players have a much shorter route into Snezhnaya than clearing every previous regional Archon Quest in order. Once you are Adventure Rank 18 and have completed Prologue: Act III, Song of the Dragon and Freedom, you can begin Chapter VII: Act I, Everwinter Without Mercy, even if earlier story chapters between Mondstadt and Snezhnaya are unfinished.
You still have to progress through the Snezhnaya Chapter VII storyline itself. Act III and Act IV of the current story require Chapter VII: Act II, Wraith’s Nocturne, so the Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 reward cannot be unlocked by skipping straight to the final Act IV quest.
Our Genshin Impact Tabletop Troupe guide focuses on that unlock route if the event is still showing as locked on your account.
When does the limited selector end?
Tabletop Troupe runs from the Version 7.1 update until November 3, 2026 at 14:59 server time. That deadline applies to the selector even though the Archon Quest itself remains permanently available. Completing A Rekviem for the Underworld after the event ends will not reopen the time-limited invitation.
That makes the Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 deadline more important than the permanence of the story quest. If your main reason for catching up is the free character, finish Act IV and claim the selector before the event timer expires. The Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 reward is only secured after you make the invitation, not when you merely unlock Act IV.
Is this the same as the standard five-star selector?
No. Version 7.1 has two separate five-star invitation events. Tabletop Troupe is the event-exclusive selector covered here, while Across the Frozen Wilds, Honing One’s Edge lets eligible players choose a character from the standard Wanderlust Invocation pool.
Claiming one does not use the other. That distinction is why the Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 anniversary package can add two five-star characters to an eligible account. Our two free five-star characters guide explains the two reward tracks together, while the anniversary claim guide covers the wider Version 7.1 package.
What happens after you choose a character?
After confirming the invitation, the selected five-star joins your roster and you also receive that character’s Ascension Level-Up Materials from the event. The selector itself does not consume Primogems, Intertwined Fates or character banner pity because it is an event invitation rather than a Wish.
The safest approach is to decide first, claim second. Check which roles your account already covers, look at the teams you actually want to play, and only then use the Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 selector. There is no benefit to rushing the confirmation screen if you are still torn between two characters.
Claim the free limited five-star before the deadline
The Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 route is straightforward once the story requirement is clear: reach Adventure Rank 18, complete Chapter VII through Act IV, open Tabletop Troupe and make one permanent choice before November 3 at 14:59 server time.
Once the Genshin Impact Free 5-Star Character 2026 invitation is confirmed, check that the chosen character appears in your roster. For current event notices and server-specific timings, check the official Genshin Impact website and the in-game Events menu before leaving the claim to the final day.
