Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access: How to Get Campaign Early Access

To use Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access, preorder or prepurchase a digital copy before launch. Activision specifically lists the Standard Digital Edition and Vault Edition as eligible. The benefit applies on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PS5, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical Standard Edition buyers should not assume the same early Campaign entitlement because Activision describes this benefit around digital preorders and prepurchases.

How Early Can You Play?

Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access begins on October 16, seven days ahead of the full launch. That doesn’t unlock Multiplayer, but it isn’t the only early-access period: DMZ begins October 20 for eligible digital preorders. Multiplayer is part of the October 23 full release. If you want to finish the story before heading into DMZ’s Hajin Exclusion Zone, you have four days between the announced early-access dates.

The Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access launch is split into four dates. PC players who prepurchase digitally can download starting October 15, followed by Campaign access October 16 and DMZ access October 20. The full game opens October 23. Both digital Standard and digital Vault editions qualify for Campaign and DMZ Early Access. A physical preorder isn’t listed as eligible for either early-access benefit. For PC, check your purchased edition on Battle.net, Steam or Xbox on PC and look for the preload when it becomes available on October 15. Downloading the files early doesn’t unlock the Campaign or DMZ before their respective start dates. The October 15 preload applies to PC; don’t assume it confirms the same preload window for every console.

What Is Included?

The Campaign follows the Korean Peninsula conflict and Captain Price’s off-book mission, with confirmed locations and scenarios including Korea, New York, Paris and Mumbai. Campaign Early Access does not change your edition content. Standard and Vault buyers who qualify can access the same Campaign early; the Vault Edition simply includes additional premium bonuses.

Do You Need the Vault Edition?

No. The Vault Edition is not required for Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access or the October 20 DMZ Early Access. The digital Standard Edition also includes both. Choose Vault for its additional Operator and weapon cosmetics, Season 1 BlackCell and DMZ Deployment Bonus, not because you think Standard owners must wait until October 23 for DMZ.

What to check before Campaign Early Access begins

If you already preordered digitally, check the game in your platform library before October 16, then keep an eye on any download or entitlement prompts. The Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access dates are October 16 for Campaign and October 20 for DMZ, but Activision hasn’t published a universal unlocking hour covering every platform. You don’t need a second preorder for the extraction mode.
