Guzzlord Pokémon GO encounters allow Trainers to catch the enormous Junkivore Pokémon and one of the most recognisable Ultra Beasts. Guzzlord has a massive HP stat and an unusual Dark and Dragon typing, but its low Defence creates a much easier raid battle than its appearance might suggest.
This Guzzlord Pokémon GO guide covers shiny Guzzlord, its weaknesses, strongest raid counters, perfect IV catch CP, best moveset and whether it is useful in raids or the GO Battle League.

Can Guzzlord Be Shiny in Pokémon GO?
Yes, shiny Guzzlord is available in Pokémon GO.
Regular Guzzlord has a mostly black body with yellow markings, a large blue mouth and orange details. Shiny Guzzlord changes dramatically, replacing most of the black colouring with white while the yellow and orange sections become more prominent.
The large colour change makes shiny Guzzlord one of the easiest Ultra Beast shiny forms to recognise.
A shiny encounter is not guaranteed after winning a Guzzlord Pokémon GO raid. Trainers may need to complete several raids before shiny Guzzlord appears.
Guzzlord will not appear shiny during the raid battle itself. The shiny check takes place after the Ultra Beast has been defeated and the catch encounter begins.
Guzzlord Pokémon GO Weaknesses
The Guzzlord Pokémon GO weaknesses are:
- Fairy-type attacks
- Bug-type attacks
- Dragon-type attacks
- Fighting-type attacks
- Ice-type attacks
Guzzlord is double weak to Fairy-type damage because both Dark and Dragon are weak to Fairy. Fairy Pokémon should therefore be prioritised over every other counter type.
As a Dark and Dragon-type Pokémon, Guzzlord resists:
- Dark-type attacks
- Electric-type attacks
- Fire-type attacks
- Ghost-type attacks
- Grass-type attacks
- Water-type attacks
Guzzlord also has a strong resistance to Psychic-type attacks because Dark-type Pokémon are resistant to Psychic damage in Pokémon GO.
Cloudy weather boosts Fairy and Fighting-type attacks. Windy weather boosts Dragon attacks, Rainy weather boosts Bug attacks and Snowy weather boosts Ice attacks.
Foggy and Windy weather boost Guzzlord itself, increasing the CP of the Pokémon encountered after a successful raid.
Best Guzzlord Pokémon GO Raid Counters
The best Guzzlord Pokémon GO counters are powerful Fairy-type attackers using Fairy-type Fast and Charged Attacks.
| Pokémon | Recommended moves |
|---|---|
| Mega Gardevoir | Charm and Dazzling Gleam |
| Incarnate Forme Enamorus | Fairy Wind and Dazzling Gleam |
| Shadow Gardevoir | Charm and Dazzling Gleam |
| Mega Diancie | Rock Throw and Moonblast |
| Zacian | Snarl and Play Rough |
| Xerneas | Geomancy and Moonblast |
| Gardevoir | Charm and Dazzling Gleam |
| Togekiss | Charm and Dazzling Gleam |
| Tapu Lele | Confusion and Nature’s Madness |
| Primarina | Charm and Moonblast |
Mega Gardevoir is one of the strongest Guzzlord Pokémon GO raid counters available. It deals enormous Fairy-type damage while also boosting the damage of other Fairy Pokémon participating in the raid.
Incarnate Forme Enamorus and Shadow Gardevoir can also defeat Guzzlord quickly. Xerneas, Zacian, Togekiss and ordinary Gardevoir are strong alternatives.
Some recommended attacks, including Geomancy and Nature’s Madness, may require an Elite TM when they are unavailable through regular TMs.
Trainers without top-level Legendary, Shadow or Mega Pokémon can use Granbull, Sylveon, Primarina, Clefable or other Fairy Pokémon.
Dragon, Fighting, Ice and Bug Pokémon can still deal super-effective damage. However, Fairy attacks should always be prioritised because Guzzlord takes double super-effective damage from them.
Can Guzzlord Be Defeated Solo?
A Guzzlord Pokémon GO solo raid is possible for a prepared Trainer using powerful Fairy-type counters.
Guzzlord has an enormous HP stat but an extremely low Defence stat. Its double Fairy weakness allows strong counters to remove its raid health surprisingly quickly.
A solo attempt is most realistic with:
- High-level Fairy-type counters
- Mega Gardevoir
- Cloudy weather
- Suitable Guzzlord attacks
- A prepared second team if rejoining is necessary
| Group size | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| One Trainer | Possible with strong Fairy counters |
| Two Trainers | Straightforward for prepared players |
| Three Trainers | Comfortable for experienced groups |
| Four or more | Very safe |
Guzzlord can still deal considerable damage, particularly when it has Sludge Bomb. Poison-type damage is super effective against Fairy Pokémon, which may cause your counters to faint more quickly.
Trainers attempting the solo should check the recommended party for clues about the raid boss moveset.
Guzzlord Pokémon GO Perfect IV CP
The perfect IV Guzzlord Pokémon GO catch values are:
| Encounter conditions | Perfect IV CP |
|---|---|
| Level 20 without weather boost | 1,650 CP |
| Level 25 with Foggy or Windy weather | 2,062 CP |
The standard non-weather-boosted Guzzlord raid catch range is approximately 1,565 CP to 1,650 CP.
During Foggy or Windy weather, Guzzlord can be encountered between approximately 1,956 CP and 2,062 CP.
A Guzzlord caught at 1,650 CP or 2,062 CP under the corresponding conditions will have perfect 15/15/15 IVs.
Perfect IVs are useful for maximising Guzzlord’s potential, but they may not be ideal for every PvP league. Trainers interested in competitive battles should check each Guzzlord’s PvP ranking before transferring it.
Best Guzzlord Pokémon GO Moveset
The best Guzzlord Pokémon GO moveset for Dark-type damage is:
- Fast Attack: Snarl
- Charged Attack: Brutal Swing
Snarl and Brutal Swing give Guzzlord a complete Dark-type moveset. Snarl generates energy quickly, while Brutal Swing provides efficient Dark-type damage.
Guzzlord may have access to the following attacks:
Fast Attacks
- Snarl
- Dragon Tail
Charged Attacks
- Brutal Swing
- Dragon Claw
- Crunch
- Sludge Bomb
Dragon Tail and Dragon Claw provide a complete Dragon-type combination, but Guzzlord’s relatively low Attack stat prevents it from competing with the strongest Dragon raid attackers.
Brutal Swing is normally preferred over Crunch for Dark-type raid damage. Sludge Bomb provides useful coverage against Fairy-type opponents, although Guzzlord may still struggle to survive long enough to use it.
Is Guzzlord Good in Pokémon GO Raids?
Guzzlord is not considered a top raid attacker.
Its enormous HP gives it substantial durability, but its Attack stat is much lower than those of the best Dark and Dragon Pokémon. Raid battles reward fast damage output, making stronger attackers more effective.
Better Dark-type raid attackers include:
- Mega Tyranitar
- Shadow Tyranitar
- Hydreigon
- Darkrai
- Mega Houndoom
Better Dragon-type raid attackers include:
- Mega Rayquaza
- Black Kyurem
- Origin Forme Palkia
- Origin Forme Dialga
- Shadow Garchomp
The Guzzlord Pokémon GO moveset is functional, but its damage output is not high enough to make it a priority raid investment.
Is Guzzlord Good in PvP?
Guzzlord has significantly more value in PvP, particularly in the Great League and Ultra League.
Its huge HP stat gives it impressive overall bulk, while Dragon Tail applies strong Fast Attack pressure. Dragon Claw is inexpensive and can be used frequently, while Brutal Swing provides useful Dark-type coverage.
A recommended Guzzlord Pokémon GO PvP moveset is:
- Fast Attack: Dragon Tail
- Charged Attack: Dragon Claw
- Second Charged Attack: Brutal Swing
Sludge Bomb can also be considered to surprise Fairy-type opponents. However, Guzzlord’s double Fairy weakness means it may be defeated before reaching the attack.
Guzzlord can perform well against Ghost, Psychic, Fire, Grass, Electric and Water-type Pokémon. It struggles badly against Fairy opponents and must also watch for Fighting, Ice, Dragon and Bug-type damage.
What Is Guzzlord?
Guzzlord is an Ultra Beast introduced in Generation VII. It is known by the code name UB-05 Glutton and is constantly consuming objects through its enormous mouth.
Despite eating almost everything it encounters, Guzzlord is not known to produce ordinary waste. Its body may convert consumed material directly into energy.
Although it’s alien to this world and a danger here, it’s apparently a common organism in the world where it normally lives.
Base stat total: 570
Is Guzzlord Pokémon GO Worth Raiding?
Guzzlord Pokémon GO raids are worth completing for the Pokédex entry, shiny chance, Guzzlord Candy and the opportunity to catch a useful PvP Pokémon.
Guzzlord is not a priority raid attacker, but it can provide genuine value in the Great League and Ultra League. Trainers interested in PvP should check the IVs of every Guzzlord before transferring it.
The raid can also be completed with a very small group because of Guzzlord’s double Fairy weakness and low Defence.
Collectors may want to continue raiding for shiny Guzzlord, perfect IVs or additional Candy while the Ultra Beast is available.
