Carry On Together multiplayer: Four Players, Demo and Steam Invites

Carry On Together multiplayer supports up to four players online, with a solo option if you want to run the moving company yourself. Butiq Games’ physics-based moving game asks you to carry awkward furniture, load a truck, drive to the destination and deliver everything without destroying the client’s possessions.

The demo has been updated with Steam friend invites, clearer voice chat and better reconnection. That should make organising a moving crew less frustrating, especially when someone drops out halfway through a job.

The official Steam store advertises one to four players, with online co-op and single-player listed as features. The game does not require a full group of four to play. Heavy items may be easier to handle with a teammate because the physics system supports lifting and moving furniture together.

Carry On Together multiplayer is listed as online co-op, not a guaranteed four-person split-screen experience. The currently published Steam features don’t establish local couch co-op or cross-platform online parties with consoles.

How do Steam friend invites work?

Butiq Games’ October 11 demo update announced one-click Steam friend invites, a player list and improvements to voice communication. The October 18 update improved Steam friend connections again, so joining a friend’s crew should be smoother than in the earliest demo build.

Carry On Together multiplayer includes one-click Steam friend invites in the demo. Open your current in-game lobby or Steam friends list to invite someone; the studio hasn’t published a separate button-by-button walkthrough for the final release.

Can friends join an ongoing job?

The developer’s demo 1.7 update describes late-join and reconnection support that returns a player to the job. It also says the lobby browser displays estimated ping and that hosts can kick players. Those are useful quality-of-life improvements for a game built around cooperating with other people.

Carry On Together multiplayer shows estimated lobby ping, but that isn’t a guarantee of a lag-free session. And if someone disconnects while carrying furniture, you’ll still need to finish the move.

What do you do together in a match?

You operate a small removal company. Players lift and carry furniture, navigate tight spaces, load the truck and drive to the destination. Handling physics means careless movements can damage items, lowering your job earnings and occasionally leaving an expensive repair bill.

The game includes personalities among its homeowners. In the updated demo, clients react to damage and can even chase a crew that makes them too angry. See our homeowners and damage guide for those mechanics.

Does the demo have the same progress as the full game?

The developer has explained that demo saves are kept in a separate folder from the main game’s saves. This does not prove that demo progress can be imported or that every unlocked item carries over. Until Butiq Games confirms a save migration, treat the two installations as separate.

Carry On Together multiplayer is available to try through the free Steam demo while the store shows it as offered. The currently updated product listing schedules the main game for 6 November 2026, though an older version showed 16 November. Check the actual store purchase status before claiming it has launched.

Controller support and platforms

Steam lists full support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers on PC. That refers to gamepads connected to the PC version, not a confirmed release of the game on Xbox or PlayStation consoles. Steam Deck compatibility also remains listed as unknown.

Carry On Together multiplayer means up to four people online, with friend invites and a demo that has better lobby tools than it did at launch. Local split-screen, console crossplay and demo save transfers haven’t been confirmed.

If a friend can’t join, compare versions of the demo, check that you’re inviting the correct Steam account and review any in-game lobby settings before treating it as a general service outage. The developer’s updates focus on connections and handling returning players.
