Albion Online Dragon Sanctuary is a high-level PvE raid dungeon for up to 20 players. You need a Spirit Waystone to open its entrance in the open world. Get one from the Ancient Lands, craft it from fragments at an Artifact Foundry or buy it from other players. Once inside, your party fights through Ashborn enemies, defeats Maeve and faces Azaryon, the Fire Dragon.
Only the group that opens the Sanctuary can enter, and there is no PvP inside. That lets you focus on bosses rather than rival guilds, but getting to the Waystone’s open-world activation point is a different matter. A Fire Drake Egg is a rare prize, not something every clear awards.
Albion Online Dragon Sanctuary: how to get a Spirit Waystone
There are three ways to get a Spirit Waystone: gather fragments in the Ancient Lands and combine them at an Artifact Foundry, get a completed one from a Fire Drake or Dragon, or buy the item or fragments from another player. Both are tradable.
Waystones range from Tier 6 to Tier 8.4, and their tier determines the Sanctuary they open. Check the item before buying or crafting it. If your group is still learning the bosses, the hardest available tier is not necessarily the best place to start.
A Spirit Waystone opens the raid; a Drake Egg is a rare reward you can use for a mount or biscuits. They serve different purposes, so don’t confuse them when sorting or selling Dragonfire loot.
Where to open the Albion Online Dragon Sanctuary entrance
Assemble your raid, take the Spirit Waystone to an open-world region of the corresponding tier, and use it to reveal the entrance. Only your raid can enter it. Groups can contain up to 20 players, and there’s no Item Power cap inside the Sanctuary, so bring your strongest appropriate PvE gear.
Bring dependable healing, survivability and damage instead of planning for PvP encounters. Sanctuary mobs are immune to forced movement, which means you cannot depend on knockbacks or pulls to interrupt their attacks.

Albion Online Dragon Sanctuary: Maeve and the raid route
Your group will face Ashborn enemies and Drakes before reaching Maeve, the Unfettered Oracle. Her boulders can punish poor positioning, so watch the battlefield and move when needed. Knockback skills won’t push Sanctuary enemies out of the way.
Patch 3 made the latter part of Maeve’s fight more forgiving. You still need to defeat her before meeting Azaryon, so don’t treat the encounter as a quick formality.
Azaryon: the final Albion Online Dragon Sanctuary boss
Azaryon, the Fire Dragon, fights across several phases, reacting to how your group moves and where it stands. Keep your team communicating and adjusting as the encounter develops rather than relying on one safe position for the entire fight.
Patch 4 improved Azaryon’s Claw Swipe cues: the debuff description now stays visible for six seconds rather than three. That makes the mechanic easier to read, but it still requires a response. A group that can clear a low tier may not be prepared for a Tier 8.4 attempt.

Albion Online Dragon Sanctuary rewards: Firewing Drake Eggs
Beating Azaryon gives a chance at a rare Fire Drake Egg, which can be raised into the Firewing Drake mount or used for Drake Biscuits. The Egg isn’t guaranteed, and feeding an Egg to raise the mount requires other mounts.
On 2 November 2026, Patch 4 increased overall Egg drop chances by about 40% but shifted them towards tougher Sanctuaries. Tier 8 Dragon Egg chances rose by approximately 300%, Tier 7 stayed roughly level and Tier 6 fell by about 66%. Those are changes relative to the previous odds, not a promise of a particular drop on one kill.
Lingering Dragon Spirit: why repeat runs are harder
Everyone in a successful Azaryon raid receives Lingering Dragon Spirit. It lasts roughly a week and makes later Sanctuary clears harder. Repeated victories are possible, including for Journal missions, but your first success doesn’t guarantee an equally easy second run.
If you’re planning several Albion Online Dragon Sanctuary attempts, don’t spend a stack of Waystones on the assumption that the same group will clear every attempt at the same difficulty. Allow for the one-week effect and choose the raid tier carefully.
What to check before you enter
Before using a Waystone, check its tier, your group size and your PvE roles. Maeve comes before Azaryon, the Egg is a chance rather than a guaranteed reward, and the week-long Lingering Dragon Spirit effect makes repeat clears harder.
