Stellar Blade Boss Challenge lets you replay bosses you’ve already defeated, practise difficult attacks and work towards the Neurolink Suit. It’s a separate challenge mode, so you don’t need to replay the entire story to face a familiar opponent.
If a particular fight is missing, you probably haven’t beaten that boss in the story yet. Hard mode has a different requirement, and the Neurolink Suit has another. Here’s how to check each one.
How to unlock Stellar Blade Boss Challenge boss fights

Shift Up introduced the mode with patch 1.003 in May 2024. It originally included 19 base-game bosses. You need to defeat a boss in the story to collect its battle data before its rematch becomes available.
Open Boss Challenge from the game’s main menu and select an opponent whose battle data you’ve collected. You can practise earlier bosses without finishing the entire story. Keep progressing through the campaign to unlock more opponents.
Those 19 fights are the original base-game roster, not a complete list of everything added later. Shift Up added Mann in the June 2025 update, with an additional fight and a separate outfit reward. Mann’s challenge requires completing the main story first.

Stellar Blade Boss Challenge Hard mode unlock requirements
To fight bosses on Hard, Shift Up says you must have seen the game’s ending. That requirement is specific to Hard, not to every Normal fight you’ve already unlocked. You can practise earlier encounters while continuing the main story.
Start on Normal if you’re still learning a boss’s timing. A harder version is more useful once you recognise its combos and know when to stop attacking. Learning those patterns matters more than forcing a maximum-damage build.
How loadouts work in Stellar Blade Boss Challenge
You can bring your own equipment or use a preset. Shift Up describes a deliberately weak minimum preset and a strengthened maximum preset, alongside other loadout choices. These let you change how demanding the same battle feels.
A stronger preset can help you watch an opponent’s entire moveset without losing immediately. When you can avoid those attacks, try a restricted setup. These are challenge loadouts, not permanent replacements for your campaign equipment.
How to earn the Neurolink Suit in Stellar Blade Boss Challenge
The Neurolink Suit comes from beating all the original challenge bosses on Normal difficulty or higher. The initial mode contained 19 base-game bosses. Clearing one favourite fight or buying an outfit at a shop won’t meet that requirement.
Hard wins also count because they exceed the Normal difficulty requirement, but you do not need to complete all 19 original fights on Hard solely for this reward. Work through your outstanding battles on a difficulty you can actually finish.
Defeating Mann in his later challenge unlocks the Royal Guard Suit. That’s not the same as the Neurolink Suit, which Shift Up tied to clearing the original Boss Challenge roster on Normal or above. Don’t mix up the two rewards.
What does Stellar Blade Boss Challenge track?
After a fight, the results screen shows completion time, perfect parries, perfect dodges and consumables used. That makes it a useful practice tool: try one attempt focused on defensive timing, then compare the next attempt rather than judging only by damage dealt.
If Abaddon keeps catching you with lightning, focus on avoiding the area attack. Against Gigas, watch the full three-hit ground combo before counterattacking. Use the guides below to learn specific punish windows before jumping back into a rematch.
The results screen is the most useful way to judge your improvement. Shift Up mentions comparing results with friends, but its announcement doesn’t establish a worldwide leaderboard that you need to join for an outfit.
Stellar Blade Boss Challenge on Nintendo Switch 2
Stellar Blade Complete Edition launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026, and Shift Up’s Switch 2 site showcases Boss Challenge. The unlock rules above come from the earlier official PlayStation announcement; follow the Switch 2 version’s own menu and prompts for controls.
Boss Challenge also isn’t New Game Plus, and Shift Up has not established automatic cross-platform transfers of rematch progress in these sources. If you want the Neurolink Suit, start with the bosses and difficulty settings shown in your own game.
