Warzone Empyros camo is the third Warzone Mastery reward introduced with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1. Activision has revealed the requirement: finish in the top five with at least six kills in the same match, and do that in 75 qualifying matches. Both conditions have to happen together.
This one makes you play for both survival and kills. Finishing fourth with only five eliminations won’t count, and neither will getting eight kills if you’re out before the final five. Here is the unlock order and what a successful match looks like.
How to unlock the Warzone Empyros camo
The Warzone Empyros camo is Mastery 3, so you must clear the earlier progression milestones first. Activision says Warzone’s Mastery path begins after the Military, Special and Completionist weapon camos, including the Divergence unlock. You then work through Parallax and Damascus Reforged before you can attempt Empyros.
- Unlock the Divergence Completionist camo by completing the required prior camo challenges.
- Finish Parallax, requiring at least five kills in a match 300 times.
- Finish Damascus Reforged, requiring two kills without plating 200 times.
- With Mastery 3 open, place in the top five and record at least six kills in the same match.
- Repeat the qualifying finish 75 times to unlock Empyros.
Activision states that the Warzone Mastery challenges can be completed using any eligible weapon or combination of weapons. You should not need to restrict all 75 qualifying finishes to a single Modern Warfare 4 gun, but older Legacy Weapons do not support this new mastery camo system.

Does a top-five finish without six kills count?
No. For Warzone Empyros camo, the official wording links the placement and elimination requirements. A fourth-place finish with five kills is not enough. Nor is a match with eight kills that ends outside the top five. The result needs both the top-five finish and the minimum six-kill performance.
The target is 75 qualifying matches, not 75 total placements plus a separate pool of six-kill games. You cannot combine a low-kill top-five finish from one match with a high-kill early elimination from another. Each successful result stands on its own, which is the main point players need to understand before chasing the final mastery reward.
How many kills do you need for Warzone Empyros camo?
Six kills per qualifying match is the stated minimum. Over 75 qualifying matches, that is at least 450 kills across the successful games. However, simply reaching 450 lifetime kills does not unlock Warzone Empyros camo, because the placement condition is just as important. Additional kills in a match will not replace the separate 75 top-five results.
A second-place finish with ten kills is one qualifying game. A sixth-place finish with ten kills is not. A fifth-place finish with six kills reaches both thresholds. Keep an eye on your final position and elimination count rather than treating 450 overall kills as a shortcut.
Which Warzone playlists qualify for Empyros?
Season 1 brings the new Hajin Battle Royale map, the Zodiac Resurgence map and several playlist variants. Activision has announced Battle Royale, Resurgence and modes including Rally Point, Massive Resurgence and Loaded Resurgence for launch, but its November 2 camo description does not spell out which specific playlists qualify for the Mastery 3 challenge.
For Warzone Empyros camo, check the live challenge progress before assuming a particular playlist works. The announced requirement covers match placement and kills, but Activision hasn’t published a definitive list of eligible modes for this specific Mastery challenge.
When does the Empyros challenge become available?
Call of Duty: Warzone Season 1 launches on Friday, 6 November 2026 at 00:00 Eastern Time, 05:00 GMT in the UK and 14:00 Japan Standard Time. In Pacific Time it launches Thursday, 5 November at 21:00. These are the developer’s global rollout times, not separate region-by-region launches.
Even after Season 1 begins, the Warzone Empyros camo challenge remains behind the two earlier mastery completions. Getting into Warzone on launch morning does not automatically make Mastery 3 available on your account.
How Empyros compares with Parallax and Damascus Reforged
Parallax measures whether you reach five kills in a match on 300 occasions. Damascus Reforged asks for two kills without plating 200 times. Empyros is the only one of these three announced Warzone challenges that explicitly combines a final placement with a minimum kill count. Treat each as its own milestone rather than one shared progress bar.
To earn Warzone Empyros camo, first clear Parallax and Damascus Reforged. Then finish top five with at least six kills in each of 75 qualifying matches. That is a significant grind, but the aim is precise. Once Season 1 launches, the game’s challenge menu will be the best place to confirm playlist eligibility.
