Warzone Nintendo Switch 2 launches on Friday, 6 November 2026 alongside Modern Warfare 4 Season 1. Activision has confirmed its free-to-play Battle Royale game is coming to Nintendo’s newer console for the first time, with the new Hajin and Zodiac maps included in the Season 1 experience.

The update goes live worldwide at midnight Eastern Time, or 5:00 AM GMT in the UK. If you’re moving from another platform, use the same linked Activision account to bring eligible Warzone progress with you. Here are the release times, maps and account details worth knowing.

Warzone Nintendo Switch 2 release date and global times

Activision announced that Warzone Nintendo Switch 2 arrives with Season 1 at 00:00 ET on 6 November. Because it is a single worldwide launch, players in Pacific Time can start on Thursday evening while those in Britain and Europe play on Friday morning.

Location Release time
United Kingdom (GMT) Friday 6 November, 5:00 AM
US East (EST) Friday 6 November, midnight
US West (PST) Thursday 5 November, 9:00 PM
Central Europe (CET) Friday 6 November, 6:00 AM
Japan (JST) Friday 6 November, 2:00 PM
Sydney (AEDT) Friday 6 November, 4:00 PM

The Warzone Nintendo Switch 2 date should not be confused with the October 23 launch of the paid Modern Warfare 4 game. Both titles connect through Season 1, but Warzone’s Nintendo debut takes place on November 6.

Is Warzone on Switch 2 free to play?

Yes. Activision calls Warzone a free-to-play game and says the game arrives on Switch 2 with the new season. Buying Modern Warfare 4 is not the stated requirement for joining free Warzone matches. Modern Warfare 4 is a separate premium release with its own campaign, multiplayer and DMZ offering.

You might see Modern Warfare 4 listed alongside Warzone Nintendo Switch 2, but don’t mix up the paid game with the free Warzone download. They’re connected through Season 1, not the same purchase.

Does Warzone Nintendo Switch 2 have cross-progression?

Call of Duty uses linked Activision accounts for progression across supported platforms. Activision’s Season 1 roadmap specifically says Warzone progress can carry to a supported platform if you log in using the same linked Activision account. Nintendo account linking is offered through the publisher’s account system.

Already playing on PlayStation, Xbox or PC? Use the Activision account associated with your existing Warzone progress when setting up Warzone Nintendo Switch 2. Making a second account could leave your old unlocks looking like they’ve disappeared.

Progress and store purchases aren’t identical. Activision’s platform guidance says content bought with COD Points follows your linked account on supported platforms, while unused COD Points are restricted to the same console family when migrating from older consoles. Other purchases can have platform restrictions, so don’t assume a licence bought elsewhere transfers to Switch 2.

What maps and modes are included?

The Warzone Nintendo Switch 2 announcement explicitly names Hajin and Zodiac and says players can join the other Warzone maps and playlists. Hajin is the new large-scale Battle Royale battleground on the Korean Peninsula, while Zodiac is a compact Resurgence map centred on the DRC Advanced Systems drone facility.

Season 1 adds the Rally Point playlist on Zodiac, Massive Resurgence on Hajin and Loaded Resurgence. The developer also announced returning locations Verdansk and Rebirth Island for later in the season. Do not mistake that in-season roadmap for a promise that every listed returning map is playable immediately at launch.

Modern Warfare 4 integration brings its 33 launch weapons, new Warzone Mastery camos, updated equipment and other progression changes. These are features of the wider Season 1 rollout that begins at the same time as the Switch 2 edition.

Can the original Nintendo Switch run Warzone?

Warzone Nintendo Switch 2 is confirmed for Nintendo’s second-generation console. The November roadmap does not announce a version for the original Nintendo Switch. A game being available on Switch 2 does not mean it is compatible with the earlier hardware.

The roadmap doesn’t give a specific Warzone Nintendo Switch 2 download size, frame-rate target or resolution. Check Nintendo’s live store listing for storage requirements rather than relying on numbers quoted for the separate Modern Warfare 4 release.

What should players check at launch?

For a smooth Warzone Nintendo Switch 2 start, confirm you own the correct console, look for the free Warzone release at the published global time and use the Activision account tied to your progress. Check the store’s available storage requirement and the in-game settings after the update is accessible.

Crossplay controls and Switch 2 performance settings still need to be checked in the live version. The confirmed headline is straightforward: Warzone Nintendo Switch 2 launches as a free game on 6 November with the new Season 1 maps and playlists.
