Steam Auto Battler RPG Fest 2026 runs from Monday 16 November to Monday 23 November. The week-long Steam event is for games where you build up characters or units and let them fight for themselves, rather than controlling every attack.
Valve has confirmed the dates and which types of games are eligible. The festival will have sections for discounted games, free demos, free-to-play releases and upcoming titles. Here’s what to expect, what qualifies and where to find the games when the event opens.
Steam Auto Battler RPG Fest 2026 dates and schedule
Steam Auto Battler RPG Fest 2026 starts on Monday 16 November and finishes on Monday 23 November 2026. The event lasts one week.
| Event | Date |
|---|---|
| Official promotional trailer | Thursday 12 November 2026 |
| Festival begins | Monday 16 November 2026 |
| Festival ends | Monday 23 November 2026 |
Valve plans to release the festival trailer on 12 November, with the event opening four days later.
Unlike Steam’s larger seasonal sales, this event is limited to games that meet its auto-battler rules.

Which games qualify?
For Steam Auto Battler RPG Fest 2026, much of the strategy needs to happen before or between fights. You might recruit a new unit, change equipment, spend upgrades or rearrange a party. When the battle begins, those units handle the combat automatically.
Valve also expects character or unit progression through experience, levels, equipment or other upgrades. Automated fighting alone is not enough.
Auto chess games are eligible. Deckbuilding games can qualify as well, but only when the deck you’ve assembled plays itself during automated combat. Simply using cards or having lots of character statistics isn’t enough.
Traditional real-time strategy games and city-builders aren’t included under these rules. If you’re issuing commands to begin, direct or interrupt fights, that’s a different sort of gameplay from the one this festival is meant to showcase.
Will there be demos and discounts?
Yes. Steam Auto Battler RPG Fest 2026 will have sections for discounted games, demos, upcoming releases and free-to-play titles. Each section serves a different purpose.
A demo lets you try a game without paying for the full version. Free-to-play games don’t require an upfront purchase, while a sale discount makes an otherwise paid game cheaper for a limited time. An upcoming title may have a store page and a wishlist option without being available to buy or download yet.
This isn’t a free-game giveaway. A demo doesn’t give you ownership of the complete game, and a discounted title still has a price. Our Steam Free to Keep vs Free Weekend guide explains how to recognise promotions that actually let you keep a game.
Participating games and their prices will be shown on Steam’s event and product pages. Check the individual listing for the current discount, whether a demo is offered and which platforms the developer supports.
How to find the festival on Steam
When Steam Auto Battler RPG Fest 2026 begins on 16 November, open the Steam Store and look for its event promotion. Steam’s themed festivals have dedicated pages with sections for discounts, free-to-play games, demos and titles marked Coming Soon.
If you just want to try something, start in the demo section. If you’re shopping, browse discounted games and then check the exact price on the game’s store page. For games that haven’t launched, the Coming Soon section is the place to look.
You can also add an interesting upcoming release to your wishlist so it’s easier to find later. Here’s how to add games to your Steam wishlist.
Before installing a demo or buying a game, check the supported operating systems and system requirements. Being included in a Steam promotion doesn’t mean every title works on every PC or on Steam Deck.
Is it the same as Steam Next Fest or the Autumn Sale?
No. Steam Auto Battler RPG Fest 2026 is a separate, genre-focused event.
Steam Next Fest focuses on demos for upcoming games across different genres. The October edition ran from 19 to 26 October 2026. You can read our Steam Next Fest October 2026 guide for how that event works.
Steam’s Autumn Sale took place from 1 to 8 October. Steam Scream V is the separate Halloween event ending on 2 November, which we covered in our Steam Scream V end-time guide.
The Steam Winter Sale runs from 17 December 2026 to 4 January 2027. That sale covers a much wider range of games.
Who is the festival for?
Steam Auto Battler RPG Fest 2026 is worth browsing if you enjoy building a party, testing equipment and watching your strategy play out. A demo is a useful way to try a game’s combat and progression before deciding whether to buy it.
